After a epic win in San Diego the comeback Cubs returned home to Chicago to take on the mighty Dodgers. We still had a lot of fuel left in the tank and was prepared for whatever it is they had for us. We weren't scared of their pitchers or their hitters or anything like that. We just had to be the team that was the best in all of baseball for over six months and we were set.

But before we take on the Dodgers tonight in Wrigley field I was out looking around for some things for the baby's room. We haven't gotten anything yet and probably won't for a while since we don't know where we are going, but I wanted to start getting ideas. It's better to be prepared for this than the baby to get here and I have no idea what we need. And while Jayden was back at home sleeping because she was tired, I wanted to see what I was getting myself into.

So I walk around some stores and go to the baby section. I look at the tiny little clothes and cute little toys and smile to myself. This might actually be a lot of fun. I was interested in many of the things I was seeing so I am sure a baby would. They don't need much, just to be fed changes and rocked to sleep so I figured that was simple enough Evelin I could do it. I know nothing about how to feed it or when to, but I'll learn along the way. That was one of the cool things about having a baby, all the things I'm going to learn about being a good dad and a good partner.

After a while I decide it was probably about time to go back home. Jayden was probably hungry and it's scary when she gets bored. Last time I left her home alone with nothing to do she made a full course meal, at 2 am in the morning.

As I start my walk back I walk past a flower shop window before back tracking. I see this huge bear made completely out of roses and I knew what I needed to do.

I walk into the store and walk up to the bear

I walk into the store and walk up to the bear. It was about two feet tall and smelled really good. The roses were a deep red and looked pretty fresh to me.

I pick the bear up and take it to the counter. I ring the bell that was supposed to call someone out and eventually a older man wearing a blue apron comes out.

"Hello son, may I help you" he asks and I smile. He looked really kind and I'm pretty sure he owned this little store.

"Yes sir. I would like to buy these flowers" I say holding the bear up and he smiles back at me.

"You must have a real special girl" he insists.

"I do. She's the most important thing in my life" I claim.

"More than baseball" he asks and I laugh. He pointed to the cubs logo on his apron assuring me he knew exactly who I was.

"Yeah, more than baseball" I insist.

"I always knew you were a smart boy. Anyone can be good at baseball, few players can be good at things outside of it.

Can I tell you a secret" he wonders as he rings up the bear.

"I would love to hear it" I say.

"I've been a Cubs fan my whole life. I've waited 84 years to see a World Series trophy back at the friendly confines and I have a good feeling I'll be able to see one pretty soon.

And as great as a feeling it is to finally see this happening, it doesn't make he half as happy as my wife does. She's been married to me for sixty years, can you believe that? I've found a woman who hasn't gotten sick of me and left. And she's still going to be here after you guys win a World Series. Love lasts longer than careers and rings, I'm glad to hear you've got something bigger than the game" he says.

"Thank you for those words. I'll keep them in my heart" I assure him.

"Of course son. Thanks for making this old fans day" he smiles.

"Is your wife here? I would love to meet her" I insist.

"Yeah. I can go get her" he nods. He disappears for a second and I pull out the money I owe. I set it on the counter plus a tip for him being such a great person to me. Eventually the man comes back out and he had his arm around his wife as they walk over to me.

"Hello. I'm Kris Bryant, it's a pleasure to meet you" I introduce myself.

"I know who you are. My husband yells out your name more than he ever yelled out mine" she jokes and her husband nudges her. I liked her, she's funny.

"I'm Mark and this beautiful young woman is Irene" the man says.

"It was a pleasure to meet you guys. I was wondering if you wanted to come to the game tonight" I ask and Marks eyes grow wide.

"Really" he gasps.

"Yeah. You helped me find something for my fiancé and much much more. Something money can't buy. I know you're a fan and would love to have you cheer us on tonight" I insist.

"That is so incredibly sweet. We would be honored to come to your game" Irene smiles.

"Here" I say handing them two tickets for behind the dugout. I always have a extra set on me in case I meet some super nice fans, and I just did.

"Bless you son" Mark smiles and I nod.

"Thank you for sharing your one of a kind love with me. I greatly appreciate it" I reply.

And with that I take the bear and head home. I get to the apartment and find Jayden watching me on tv and I kind of laugh.

"He's pretty hot huh" I tease and she starts to giggle.

"I think so" she says turning to me.

She stops chewing on whatever it was she was eating when she sees the big bear made of roses I was holding. She tries to hide her smile but it doesn't work out that well.

"Whatcha got there" she asks.

"Some flowers" I smirk and she giggles.

"Yeah. Why'd you get that" she wonders.

"Because I saw this unique and beautiful thing made up of some of the most pure flowers in the world and I thought of you. This little flower shop had many wonderful things inside of it and I wanted to bring you this one" I insist.

"Well its amazing" she says as I set it in her lap. "Where am I going to put this" she wonders.

"Here" I say picking it back up and putting it on the kitchen table.

"Perfect" she smiles.

"Perfect."
