Misunderstanding (Jungkook)

Y/n sat in front of the class on her own while the other students mingled around, she stayed in her spot reading her book, occasionally prompting her glasses back up the bridge of her nose.

The door slid open revealing Mrs. Kim,
"Alright class, get into pairs" she spoke, the students got up from their seats rushing over to their friends getting into pairs, Y/n stayed seated playing with the end of her ponytail.

Y/n's POV

I sighed playing with my hair as I glimpse around the class, everyone was getting into pairs while I stayed seated. I didn't have any friends.
"Y/n do you have a partner?" Mrs. Kim asked, I shook my head earning a few snickers from the girls. "I'll be her partner!" Someone said making me turn around in surprise, it was Jungkook, he was one of the well known students of BigHit High, he was a member of the group BTS who were always the center of attention at school.

He walked over to me with a smile earning me a few glares from the others. "Alright, here's some work, you and your partner must complete it together" she says handing out several sheets of paper. I glanced over at Jungkook who was now sat next to me, him happening to glance over at the same time, I looked away immediately feeling my cheeks flushed.

*Ring Ding Dong* the bell rang indicating it was lunch, everyone packed up walking out the classroom, "Y/n?" Jungkook calls out gently making me look up at him shyly, "you coming?" He asked but I shook my head telling him no, I usually stayed inside the class during breaks as I had no one to eat or talk with. "Would you like to come eat with my hyung's and I?" He asked making me slightly flustered. "No no, that's okay! You go have lunch!" I said making a pitched voice making him chuckle, my cheeks flushed feeling embarrassed. "Come on" he says grabbing my hand and dragging me out the class towards the cafeteria, the moment we stepped foot in the cafeteria all eyes were on us, mostly glares directed towards me, I ducked my head down trying to avoid any contact.

"Hey hyung!" Jungkook yells, his pace speeding up dragging me along with him. "Hey hyung, this is Y/n, we were partnered in class" he says with a smile making me blush away again, ""Hello" I said quietly "Hi!" They all said in unison as Jungkook and I sat next to each other. "What did you guys buy hyung?" He asked, each one of them held out a sandwich making him scrunched his nose like a bunny, "Sandwich again?" He grumbled "Don't complain Kook, that's all they ever sell in this shit hole" Suga scoffed. I stiffened feeling slightly awkward. "What about you Y/n? What did you bring?" Jungkook ask leaning closer to me, I scooted away slightly creating little space between us before taking out my bento box, "Is that a bento box?" Jin asked practically drooling, I nodded my head opening it. My lunch consisted of different selections of food. "Wow that looks so good!" Jungkook exclaimed, I smiled pushing my bento closer to them, "Would you like to try some?" I asked, they all nodded their heads as they began chowing down on the food.

"Thanks Y/n! That was delicious!" The two boys said patting their bellies making me lightly chuckle. "Yah that was great" Jin said giving me thumbs up. "Y/n bring us food again tomorrow" Suga orders earning him a whack on the head "Yah be more nicer" Jin said, I chuckled at their childish acts but the table soon turned quiet, all eyes were on me. 'Oh no I shouldn't have laughed' I thought putting my head down, "You should laugh more often Y/n" Jungkook said sweetly showing his adorable bunny smile.

~Time Skip- Next day~

I walked through the empty halls walking towards the classroom. My feet came to a halt hearing 7 different voices coming from the closed room, not wanting to interrupt I was about to walk away but stopped hearing my name. "Hey Jungkook, what's the deal with you and Y/n?" Someone asked which I assumed was Taehyung by the deep husky voice. "Nothing hyung" Jungkook responded.

"Yah right, you've been talking about her non stop since yesterday" My heart fluttered but soon turned cold when I heard his next few words.

"No it's not like that, I was just...you know being nice to her, since she's always by herself" the air around me turned cold, 'of course, he's just being nice' I thought, tears slowly beginning to form as I walked away from the closed door.

Y/n heard it all running away in tears, her heart clenched feeling betrayed at the words Jungkook spoke.

Jungkook's POV

"Don't lie Jungkook we know you like her, we've seen the way you look at her" they teased, making me embarrassed, they're not wrong, I did like her, she was smart, cute, great cook, to me she was perfect.

"So what if I do?!" I exclaimed earning chuckles from my hyung's.

The bell rang and students began flooding the class, I spotted Y/n walk in with her head down but not failing to notice her slightly red eyes, my heart clenched seeing her broken figure, as I was about to walk up to her, a few girls crowded around me blocking my way, for a moment our eyes met giving me a better looks at her teary eyes.

For the whole class I looked at nothing but her, the way her lips pouted when she's focusing was adorable, I smiled at the thought of her but remembered she had cried earlier. 'What happened to her?' I questioned as I softly stared at her back.

"Get with your partners" Mrs.Kim said and automatically I shot up from my seat walking over towards Y/n, I knew she knew I was coming over as I see her shrink in her seat, trying to avoid me. I grabbed a chair and sat in front of her, "Y/n?" I called out gently, I frowned seeing her flinch "Y/n? Are you okay?" I ask gently, again she avoids me looking out the window, I took a long sigh not wanting to overwhelm her.

"Jungkook can I ask you something?" She asked quietly still looking out the window. I hummed in response telling her to continue, she sighed turning towards me, "Jungkook are you just being nice to me?" She asked looking down, my hearth clenched as my eyes grew wide, 'She heard' I thought. My chest tightened even more seeing her eyes slowly drown in tears, without another word I grabbed her hand dragging her out the classroom. "Sorry miss, Y/n's not feeling well" I said to the teacher as we walked out of the classroom.

"Jungkook where are you taking me?" She asked with a shaky voice, I suddenly stopped making her crash against my back, I turned around grabbing her shoulders looking down at her, she shook under me making me frown.

"Y/n what you heard was just a misunderstanding"

"It's okay, Jungkook" she said with a light smile, my chest tightened once more seeing her force a smile. "No y/n listen, did you stay for the whole conversation?" I asked, she shook her head looking away, I smiled down at her.

"Y/n you should've stayed" I said making her look up at me in confusion, "I didn't talk to you or eat with you just because I was being nice,  Y/n I like you and I would like to get to know you better" I confessed, she stayed quiet her eyes wide just looking at me, 'oh no, did I fuck that up?' I thought cursing at myself, but soon noticed Y/n's cheeks turning bright red along with her ears, she gave me a sweet smile making my heart flutter. "I um would l-like to get know you better t-too"
