First thing the next day, Creech and her siblings took off for New York, where the first leg of the race would begin. "Man, it's gonna be awesome!" Kopa said happily as he held on to Creech's leg. "I can, like, barely contain myself right now!"

"Well, neither can the rest of us," Dusty said with a chuckle. "But for the record, I'm just happy we took that chance as soon as we could."

Creech just chuckled warmly as they continued on. It took all day, but eventually, Kovu was the first one to see the bright lights of the city twinkling below them. "Guys! Guys! Guys!" he exclaimed excitedly. "We're here! We're here! We're here!"

Creech glanced up and saw the lights as well. "Yup. Here we are, alright," she confirmed. "This is definitely New York."

They were all amazed by it. They had never seen anything so dazzling in their lives! Even Junior couldn't help but be amazed by it. In a short amount of time, they landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. "Now you guys be careful," she warned. "This is one crowded airport, so we're going to be careful to make sure we don't run into anything-as in something or someone. Got it?"

As soon as they agreed, Dusty and Junior raced in, panic on their faces. "Nearly got ran over in case you were wondering," Junior said as soon as he caught his breath.

Dusty nodded, obviously shaking with fear. Creech just sighed. "Well, try to be careful, you two. Okay?" she said.

As soon as they nodded, they began to get through the maze of busy airport people. A couple of times, they nearly ran into someone. And once, Junior nearly ran right into a trolley. But nonetheless, they managed to get through and got directions from a friendly fight attendant to where the racers were gathering. Soon, they arrived to see two rows of racing hangars, one facing the other. Some were sleeping while others were talking to each other. After checking in with the race official, they entered the area and looked around in amazement. Wow, this definitely looks more colorful and exciting than Propwash Junction's county fair, Creech thought.

"Wow! This place looks so cool! I just can't wait to meet the other racers! C'mon, boys, let's go!" Kopa said, full of excitement, and took off with Kovu and Junior following him from behind.

"Don't you guys get lost!" Creech called after them.

While Pocahontas and Cinderella went to talk with some of the racers, Creech and Dusty were left wandering around. At one point, Dusty left to talk to one of the racers who appeared to be British because of his race uniform, which looked like the British flag. It didn't take long for Creech to find out that he was Bulldog since she wasn't far from the chat. After hearing Bulldog respond rudely to him, however, it made Creech sigh with a bit of stress and turned to go-only to nearly run into someone else. She was so surprised she ended up tripping over her feet and falling to the ground with a THUD. Hearing her, the figure turned quickly around, surprised. "Oh, I'm so, so sorry, ma'am. I completely wasn't paying attention," he said, embarrassed.

Creech rubbed her head, feeling her face turning a little red as well. "That's okay, sir," she said. "Mostly, I really wasn't watching where I was going. Anyway, I'm sorry you had to see that."

But what surprised Creech the most was how the figure looked like-he was a grey-and-white cat that looked like an ordinary animal, yet he was walking on two legs, talking like a human, and was dressed up in a handsome prince's suit with his short, pointy tail sticking out. It was as if somehow he had gained human personalities. The cat, however, just smiled kindly and offered his hand. "Are you alright?" he asked.

"Y-yeah. I'm alright now," Creech stammered as she took his hand and allowed him to help her back up to her feet. "And if I remember correctly, are you former cartoon actor and racing champion Thomas Cat?"
