Halo Squad

Chapter 5

Baby stood there with an 'I told you so' look on her face, Emilia was shocked "How the bloody hell did that happen?", and Anna was clearly trying, and failing, to not look at his newly improved body. "Luckily your underwear stretches or it would have ripped too" Baby tells Dominic with a laugh. Dominic chuckled then continued speaking "Okay, now time to get to the other matter. Why my bag is so damn heavy all of a sudden". He opens his bag and tips the contents out onto the medical bed he had been lying on. Along with the previously mentioned items, there were 8 large metal rings, just slightly wider than Dominic's head.

"What on earth are they?" Emilia questioned, to which Anna replies "I don't think 'on earth' is the appropriate phrase for this. I think I might know what these are". Baby and Anna look at each other, and simultaneously said "Haloes". "So I was right. We are gonna become angels!" Dominic whispered to himself. "What the hell is going on here?" Emilia asked, "Em, I think it's for the best that you go back to class now. I'll explain everything later, I promise". Emilia looked annoyed but left anyway. "Baby, call everyone else down. We gotta give them out" he told her. Baby called everyone in the team down, one by one, then said "Okay, they're all coming". 15 minutes later, the whole team was in the room, caught up on what had happened to Dominic, and holding their haloes. "Look at all of us, the halo squad!" Gemma said jokingly, but Dominic struck a thoughtful look. He then made an announcement "After some careful deliberation" he said, winking at Gemma "I have decided a team name. We are to be the Halo Squadron of Angels, Hunters of De-mons and other Foul beasts". "Cool name" said Japeth, while Gemma glared at Dominic "but I think it should be shorter. Let's call ourselves the Halo Squad". Everyone nodded in agreement as Gemma silently fumed.

"Okay, so what do we do with these haloes?" asked Gava, "Put them on our heads, obviously. Idiot" retorted Gemma, "Don't call me an idiot, idiot" "I'll call you an idiot if I wanna call you an idiot because you are an idiot. Idiot" "Wait guys, no-one put your halo on your head yet. There's something else in my bag". It was a note written in cursive: Ensure all team members have their haloes in their hands, then turn this note over. Dominic had already handed everyone their haloes so he turned it over. Lol you turned it over but there's no extra information.

Dominic rolled his eyes, thinking it was kind of a dumb time for Gabriel to get a sense of humour. Then everything went white and Dominic knew exactly where they were. Everyone else, on the other hand, was extremely disorientated. "What the hell is going on?" "Where the hell are we?" "Who flash-banged us?" "What the fu-". Tamsin was cut off by a loud booming voice "New angels. Bow before the presence of the almighty one", "Is that God?" Gava whispered to Japeth who shrugged. Then the glowing source of the voice landed in front of them from above "Nah, just kidding dudes, my name is Remiel. You can call me Remi. I'm an archangel".

Dominic was shocked by his difference to Gabriel, but at the same time realised who sent them the note. "Where's Gabriel?" asked Baby, "Oh, Baby Gabey? My brother's job is to recruit and look after you. He's technically in charge of you. Like a football team manager. I'm here to train you guys, and basically get you ready for the monster hunting. You guys call them de-mons, don't you" "Yeah, we do. Dom came up with it." Lavinia replied. "Okay, well guys, ready to rumble?!" Remiel asked, but Gabriel then appeared in the room with them.

"Actually, they're not angels yet" he said. "What on earth does that mean? We all signed your contract" said Gava. "What is above my head, Gava?" "Um, a halo" "Exactly, until you wear the halo, you are a human" "So I'll just put on my halo" "You can do that, but remember the consequences first" "What the hell does that mean?" "Didn't you read the contract?". The team all looked at each with guilty look. All apart from Japeth. "Guys, in order to be angels, we can't still be humans" "Yeah, so?" questioned Lavinia, "When we put on the haloes, we die".
