Poor Keith

Aidan POV

I didn't know why, but I had I feeling something was going to go wrong today... I'd better stay close to Amber, just in case...

Amber POV

Today, Aidan was unusually secretive today. I mean, more than usual. "Hey, Keith, whatcha doing?" I asked him.

"Oh. Just swimming for a bit," he replied while at the same time turning into a giant fish and leaping into the clear, blue waters to swim a while with Aqua, our mermaid friend. I had this strange feeling they would become more than just friends.

Leaning against an oak tree, Aidan watched us fool around with those stunning eyes of his. He called out,"Guys, it's time to go."

Keith popped back up and changed into my favorite shape, a small tabby cat. Laughing, I patted his head and he purred and rubbed himself against the end of my pants. Looking out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Aidain was watching us with-jealousy? No, why would Aidan be jealous?

In a giant blur, Keith changed back and Aqua swam up to the surface. Aidan said,"Guys, I think we should continue our education by going to school."

I was shocked. He had never mentioned this before. But of course, I was all for it. "Yes," I said.

"No," Keith argued.

"Yes," Aqua replied.

"So that settles it, we're going to school tomorrow." Aidan said with an air of finality. But I secretly thought, poor Keith... He didn't want to go, probably to keep us all safe.

As I thought about it, something happened so suddenly that I had no chance to react."Demons," I whispered with horror as one came out of the ground.

It said in it's rasping voice, "Give us the girl and no harm will come to you."

Aidan said with lots of anger, "Never!" while Keith agreed with a nod of his angel head and fierce look in his eye.

"Well, then I'll be back in a few days to see if your choice is the same and then if it is, be ready for an attack." the demon bowed his giant, leathery head and disappeared to who-knows-where.

"C'mon. We have to sleep now," Aidan sighed and laid down. After a moment's hesitation, I laid down next to him and fell into a peaceful, dreamless sleep.

Aidan POV

She was just so cute, snuggling up to me with her calm smile in her sleep. I resisted to urge to wrap my arm around her and instead, laid on my back with her on my side, sleeping like the angel she was.

How could I get all of them to school with no notice ahead of time? I guess I would have to leave now to take care of that. Sighing, I lifted myself up and realized that Amber's birthday was also tomorrow, yet I hadn't gotten her a present yet. I had so many things to do, I better start now.

~The Next Morning~

Amber POV

I woke up with a strange coldness in my left side and a feeling of loneliness. What was up with that?

"Happy birthday!" Aqua, Aidan, and Keith all jumped out of the bushes, making me very suprised, so I jumped backwards, tripping over a rock. Luckily, Aidan rushed forwards and caught me in his arms. I felt so right there.

"Here's your birthday persent" he said, giving me a small box wrapped with silver wrapping paper. Eager to find out what was in it, I ripped it apart, finding a simple silver necklace with small diamonds embeded on the little pendant cat. So happy, I did something extremly rash.

I kissed Aidan. And he kissed me back. Feeling bliss, I wrapped my arms around him, deepening the kiss. Aqua finally had to break us apart so she could give me her present and Keith's too.

Aqua gave me a pearl bracelet and Keith gave me a small picture frame with a small picture of us all together, smiling. I love them all, but mostly, Aidan's gift.

I was so happy, I didn't realize I was sprouting fur until the last moment, when I changed into a pure black wolf.

Shocked, Aidan whispered,"Werewolf." When he said that, I ran off into the woods, seeking freedom with my wolf body, my wolf determined to never return.
