Radioactive: The Creations

Chapter 1

"Tessa! Its 8:30. You missed the bus. You're going to have to walk." Tessa's mom yelled to Tessa who was still upstairs.

"I'm coming mom." She yelled back as she finished getting ready and gave her dog a snack before letting out of her room.

Tessa ran down the stairs and took her breakfast to eat on the way. She gave her dad a kiss just before he left for work.

"Goodbye, Tessie. Have a good day at school"he said to her.

"Goodbye, daddy. Can you bring me back something?" She asked.

"Sure, what?"

"Another one of those books, 'The Love In Our Lives'?"

"You actually like those dumb teenage romance books?"

"Yes, and they're not dumb, that's only what you think."

Tessa's dad looked at her mom who just gave a "she's your child" kind of look.

"Fine, I'll see what I can do?" He said, knowing that he couldn't win this argument.

"Yay!" Tessa said cheerfully and let him leave.

She checked the time and realized she was going to be late.

"Oh, I gotta go. Mom, where's Brianna?" Tessa said in a rush.

"Brianna caught the bus already. Hurry, its already 8:50. Bye sweetheart." Her mom said and kissed her forehead. She gave Tessa her lunch and Tessa ran off to school.

Tessa arrived at school right on time. She stuffed everything in her locker and got into class. She found a seat right beside her best friend, Colleen.

"You made it right on time again, Foster." said Colleen, playfully calling her by her last name.

"Well I just underestimate the time it takes me to get to school. That's all." Tessa said laughing.

The supply teacher, Mr. Mino, came in, not looking happy as usual.

"Morning class" He said lazily.

"I believe we have math right about now, so turn to page 274 and do numbers 1-9. If you don't understand it, then just read the introduction to the chapter and Mrs. Meyers will be here tomorrow. Whatever not done is homework. Now get to work."

Mr. Mino was always the supply teacher for their math teacher, Mrs. Myers, who was just on a trip to California to visit her family. Mr. Mino was going though some hard times in life and had no energy what so ever to teach properly, so half the kids in the class would normally do nothing all period, but Tessa, being the responsible, hard-working girl she is, puts effort into her work so it would look good when she hands in her notebook for final marking, as they did at the end of every term.

After 2 boring periods, they had drama. They had to practice a play that wasn't even going to be performed, and the teacher wasn't even paying attention to anyone except for his favourite students who were practicing a long play for a talent show/entertainment night that was happening in June, which was in 2 months. So Tessa just spoke with Colleen, when Bella and her friends came over to give a few rude comments.

"Great, look who's coming to join our party" Colleen said sarcastically and rolled her eyes.

"What up freakathon." Laughed Bella high-fived to her friends who found the name hilarious.

Bella calls Tessa names like "freakathon" and "Dream Dork" because of her parents. Tessa's dad is a scientist and studies unusual substances, and her mom's a writer, which means she uses her imagination a lot. Tessa is also smart and uses her imagination a lot, and is often caught daydreaming. Bella thought she was ridiculous because she sometimes came up with the oddest theories and started using the name against her. And Bella and her friends started calling her freakathon because of her purple hair, and got jealous of the fact that she always did good deeds for the community, like helping out in animal shelters and running marathons.

"You know Bella, your just wasting your breath because I don't take it as any offense. I'm just helping out the community and you only help yourself to all you can eat buffets, and we can tell." said Tessa enjoying the fact that she was annoying the crap out of Bella.

Everybody laughed.

"And who cares if my parents did one mistake, it's done and over right now and the name is useless." Tessa was referring back to what happened to her dad 2 years ago.

Tessa's dad was studying a cancer cell to see if he could understand it and find a cure for it but an intern accidentally pulled the fire alarm and he didn't cover it properly. it was left on the table with the heavy moisture in the air and contaminated it and made itself airborne. The whole office got cancer that day, including Bella's uncle, everyone except for her dad who took Tessa and her sister Brianna to the Zoo. When he got the call, he rushed over after dropping Tessa and Brianna home and wore a hazmat suit. He found that the cancer cell was actually frozen and just broke apart, therefore was curable before it thawed out. So they all quickly flushed out their systems of any fluids replacing it with cleaner ones, disinfected the air, and themselves. But Tessa's dad still kept his job because he proved he was smart enough for it.

"But on the other hand, you can't even figure out what an oak tree produces" laughed Colleen, for it was her and Tessa's turn to laugh.

Everyone looked at Bella, waiting for her answer.

"Well, it uh... it produces oaks, right guys." Bella looked at her friends for support.

They all agreed but didn't seem like they completely believed that it was. Bella saw the uncertainness in her friends faces and made a fake laugh and quickly turned and walked away. Tessa knew they wouldn't bother her for a few days, so she continued with her day at school.

After school, Tessa went to the post office to pick up some stamps for her mom, so she had to walk home the long way. The road wasn't busy today because it was Thursday, and people usually wait until Friday to get supplies. Bella was there with her friends and didn't look very happy.

"Hey, Foster." Bella was not her usual bullying self.

She was more horrifying this time, like the time colleen embarrassed her I front of her own parents.

'Look at what I found. Rope. You know what that means. Bungee jumping!"

But Tessa knew the punishment wouldn't be as easy as the last one.
