After a delicious lunch, Mariah and Nicole showed Tessa around the interacting room, for it was very big.
They told her what each group was and Tessa found it to be a lot like high school; the goths, the jocks, the popular girls, the nerds, the outcasts. Except, the fact that they were in a laboratory and not school, their names were changed; the dark, the tough, the wanna-bes, the smarts, the outcasts (their name stayed the same. There were many other groups, a lot were scattered about and Mariah decided she didn't want to waste her time looking all over the room for them.
Then, they showed Tessa the room. Each room was the same (or slightly different for the misbehaved). Mariah and Nicole showed Tessa the games area, the educational area, the hangout area (which was mostly like a cafe), and the performance/entertainment area that was used for multiple reasons. Mariah and Nicole showed Tessa their schedule for each day of the week; Monday is gymnastics and combat training, Tuesday is tennis and badminton, Wednesday is volleyball and bowling, Thursday is basketball and skip-rope, Friday is soccer and swimming, Saturday is baseball and cricket, and Sunday is free time outside. You don't have to participate if you don't want to, but you do need to go outside for at least 4-5 times per week, unless required not to. The activities are often changed or taken to the next level. For example, skip-rope can be an opportunity to dance, and swimming can be used to do multiple sports and activities. Today is Tuesday, so it was tennis and badminton.
At 3pm, everyone went to their rooms to change into their outdoor outfits, depending on what day it was. Tessa's closet was organized by days and appropriate wear for indoors too. Tessa put on her pink and white tennis outfit and followed everyone outside.
Outside was bigger and better than Tessa thought it was. There was open land for them to wonder as far as the eye could see. And for the first time in days, Tessa could actually see the blue sky and green grass, feel the wind in her hair, hear birds that came to nest in the trees.
But wait, Tessa thought. why would they let birds in here if this land is reserved for test subjects? Are there any other animals in here?
"Birds don't really bother us in any way that would concern the scientists." said a boy who appeared right next to Tessa.
The boy looked about her age. He was about a few inches taller than she was and had dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and had large visible muscles all over his body, like he worked out a lot. His hair was short and he had a hairstyle that stuck up, but was soft and neatly arranged, so it made him look like a kind, top secret agent from a movie.
Tessa almost jumped and didn't recall hearing anyone approach her.
"And we aren't suppose to have any allergies or reactions to animals unless the substances tested on you make you."
"How did you know what I was thinking?" Tessa asked.
"I got injected with a substance they call RA-303. It's one of the special substances that could actually beat the 'wear-off' liquid." he said.
"So you will forever mind read? What happens if another substances are tested on you? And what's a 'wear-off' liquid? And isn't RA-303 a race car?" Tessa had a million questions but decided to stop herself after the 4th one.
The boy just laughed. "Well to answer those questions, yes I will forever mind read unless they find a cure, they won't test anymore liquids on me because of what happened to the ones before, a wear off liquid is what they inject you after they're finished testing something on you so you won't have the substance in your system forever or it won't affect the other substances tested on you, and here, the scientists call they're substances anything with two letters and three numbers." Tessa was kind of embarrassed about asking so much questions at once, but the boy just seemed to like her curiosity.
"I'm Chris."
"I'm Tessa." said Tessa trying to force a smile and shook his hand.
"Well Tessa, you're a curious one." Tessa blushed.
"But that's a good thing."
"Thanks. Chris, do you mind answering a few more questions for me? Later?" Tessa didn't want to seem too anxious.
"Sure." Chris looked up to see everyone in front of them.
"Well, its time to play. Do you know how to play tennis or badminton?"
"A little. But I just lost my friends and I don't know how outside works."
"I could help. You can play on my court today. Which would you rather play; tennis or badminton?"
"Tennis"
"Then let's go." Chris took her hand and jerked her forward, pulling her with him to court 5. Tessa would have tripped and stumbled her way there, but she felt more balanced than before. Tessa decided this was all apart of what she was injected with when she came here, and they made it so they wouldn't get hurt, or at least not on purpose.
