"So Tessa, I will be giving you a tour of the important parts of section 89. You will be staying here for quite a while so you might want to make yourself at home here." said the man in the lab coat.
"My name is Roger. I will be one of your so-called guardians. You will have 3 guardians. So we have divided this facility into 5 parts; the storage area, the experiments area, the interacting area, the testing area, and the housing area."
Tessa was afraid to speak because she didn't want to make a bad first impression on this guy, especially if he was to become one of her guardians. But Tessa thought it wouldn't hurt to ask a few questions.
"What is the purpose of each area?"
Roger smiled and he had a wonderful smile, but not exactly warming.
"Well I'd thought you never ask. The storage area is where we keep our supplies and extra tools, and in a separate area we keep special substances and samples that we test. The experiments area is where we study the substances and samples. Oh." They turned the corner and came to a room with many people in dresses and loose suits. They looked like hospital clothing but fancier.
"This is the interacting area. This is the room that you will be in when you aren't busy. There are a many rooms so that people don't fight if they don't like each other, but most people will be required to stay in this room. You'll stay here, make friends, eat and hang out. It's basically club for people like you."
People like me? She thought. What does he mean?
"So, what about the testing area and the housing area? You didn't finish." said Tessa wanting him to go on.
Roger was confused for a moment then remembered what he was talking about.
"What? Oh, yeah. So the testing area is the area you will stay in when you are being experimented on. You will have to stay there when you are under the effects of certain substances and you will be completely monitored. But don't worry, you can go back to the others when you aren't being effected. If you were to still be under the effects of the substances, we have people around a lot of the places you will be kept in case you need any help. Also we have cameras everywhere around the section."
The more Roger talked about it, the more Tessa questioned her decision on coming here.
"And here is the housing area. This is where you will be resting and living when you aren't being tested on, or not in the interacting area. You can come here anytime you like. Whereas the interacting room, you can only go there when people are near the hallway and able to help you if you need it. But you are not allowed to leave those 2 areas unless you are told to or there is a big emergency. Follow me and I will show you your room."
Tessa followed Roger though a large hallway filled with rooms with 4 beds each. The doors had a metal frame and bullet proof glass. The glass had holes so you could talk to people without opening the door, but there were 2 sheets of the glass with a little space between them, like a divider could slip though if there were any emergency or if people didn't want to talk to anyone. Tessa found that there were mostly boys' belongings on the left, and girls belongings on the right, and Tessa was half relieved that she'll be rooming with girls, but scared because the boys could see them from across the hallway. But Roger walked right to the end of the hallway and turned left twice and into another hallway with a fair amount of rooms too. The only things about these rooms were that they were smaller and only had one bed.
"Why is there only one bed? Isn't there still room in the other rooms in the other hallway?" asked Tessa who wasn't quite that comfortable with staying here alone on her first night.
"Well there is, but we'd rather you be by yourself for the first few nights. Well until you've found some friends that we could put you with. We don't want to pair you up with just anyone, just in case you don't get along. We need you in perfect shape for testing. " replied Roger, who kind of felt bad for her.
"So I'll show you your room. Your clothes are here, and later you can request certain styles that we have. Your bed is here and you can store some belongings that you have and you can request up to 5 items from your old home."
When Tessa heard that, she wanted to race out and request them immediately, but restrained, and let Roger finish.
"You can decorate your wall when you get your new room with the other girls. If you need anything, just press this button and someone will come to assist you as soon as possible. You will be going to our 'store' when you are well settled here." Roger checked his watch.
"Well, its close to bedtime for you. I will tell you a little bit of information tomorrow. You will also start interacting tomorrow. You should get some sleep now. Good night."
When Roger left, Tessa found what looked like a nightgown and put it on. Tessa could hear voices from the other hallway, but they stopped shortly after the lights went out. They were probably used to the time schedule. Tessa hadn't realized how tired she was, but realized it wasn't like a regular fatigue, more like a crave for restoring her energy. She ignored it and fell asleep.
