Chapter 9

The button to call the assistant was green. Tessa guessed it was because it was the calmest color there. Katelyn came almost as soon as they pressed the button and rushed over to them casually.

"Hello. What can I assist you with?" she asked.

Mariah spoke, "Hi Katelyn. We wanted to ask you to help us move Tessa's things to our room. She decided that's where she would like to stay."

Katelyn smiled at Tessa, proud that she was making friends.

"Well, sure. I'll call some other assistants to move your things. I'll take Tessa to pick out some decorations and stuff. Do you guys want to come?" asked Katelyn.

"Yeah," they all said at once, and they all followed Katelyn.

After Katelyn made a call, she lead the 6 of them into the storage area. The storage area looked as developed as the housing and interacting area. It had clean, white floors and walls and a whole bunch of moving equipment. Almost everyone Tessa saw was dressed in protection suits with goggles and clipboards in their hands, checking off boxes of supplies and telling the people in the vehicles where to put things.

Tessa couldn't help asking, "Why are we here?"

"What do you mean?" replied Katelyn.

"I mean why are we in the storage area?"

"Oh. Well, the storage area is where we get our shipment of supplies and things and keep what we can't store in the other areas, so we have our decorations here because its easier to have it kept in an area where we don't have to worry about storage, and we don't have any room in our other areas," explained Katelyn.

"What about the housing and interacting areas?"

"The housing area has to fit everyone in this compound, even if they don't live here. So there is a room for all staff and scientists as well as TSs. Also the interacting room is bigger then you think. It doesn't just have 10 rooms, its the whole outdoors too."

"Yeah. That makes it the biggest room in the section," added Caleb. "The 2nd biggest is the experiment room, then the housing room, then the testing room, then the storage room."

"Wow Caleb. You know a lot about this place," said Katelyn.

"Well, I did spend over half of my first days with Roger and asked like 214 questions."

Everyone laughed. Katelyn turned a corner and entered a rather small store. They approached a man behind the desk, writing something down. He wore a tight, grey T-shirt and ripped jeans. Tessa would have been discussed about his clothing on his body but noticed he was also muscular. Was he part of an experiment too?

"Hello, Daniel," said Katelyn. The man looked up.

Tessa could now see his sea green eyes and strong features. His bronze hair was dark and messy and he had a few scars, scratches, and callouses. His teeth were perfect, his skin was slightly tanned, and he beared a strong, and creepy resemblence to Chris.

"Hi, Katelyn. Hi, guys, and girls. What can I do for you?" said Daniel.

Mariah and Nicole giggled but it wasn't a girly, flirtatious giggle, more of a happy giggle, like they were good friends with him. And they probably were. Tessa sighed and everyone looked at her and she quickly turned into a cough before anyone could notice.

"Tessa here wants to move in to one of our more official rooms and wants some things to decorate and use in her area of the room." explained Katelyn.

"Tessa," Daniel repeated.

He put down his pen and came from behind his desk to get a closer look at her. Tessa immediately tensed up, almost like a military soldier. He held her chin and turned her head sideways, then up then down. He walked around her lifting her arms, feeling her hair, checking her hands. Tessa looked at her friends for help, and they smiled, like they have been through the same thing.
