CHAPTER ELEVEN - Distractions

As Amber screamed, she turned away from what spooked her. Running away from the strange figure,she screamed saying "Fuck, Fuck, Fuck!!" Don't tell me the phantom found a way out of the house and decided to kill me in these woods
She ran.
"Amber!! Stop running it's just stupid Scott" Deby yelled out to draw Amber's attention back to reality.
Amber stops almost falling down and turns, she snapped and walked straight towards Scott giving him a slap on his left cheek and yells "What the heck dude, haven't I gone through enough already? That wasn't funny".
"I'm sorry,I just wanted to make an entrance" Scott said as he rubbed his left cheek.
" Goodness God, Grrrrggh" Amber screamed while grunting.
" Oh... kay" a slick masculine voice from behind Scott, "Hey there, you must be Amber" he was a bit shorter than Scott,he was skinner too,he had flowing dark hair that almost covered his face and he wore a black Jacket and blue jeans ,his skin a bit pale.
"Urgh...Yes...I'm Amber" Amber replies as her heart races and she still had her angry expression on. Deby had a smirk on her face as she adjusted her glasses,and walks slowly near Amber and whispers in her ear. "C'mon get a hold of yourself".
"Oh great,nice to meet you, I'm Bob Copper, it's glad to see you joining us. We can serve as a distraction from what's happening in ...." He introduces himself but Deby interrupts him.
"Bob!!,Can we head to the party now?" Deby insisted will raising her eyebrows.
Bob clears his throat and replies"Oh sure, Follow us".
They head further into the forest. Thirty minutes later,they arrive at a big open space in the forest,there's a small inn there. It was built with wood from the forest, it had electricity that was generated by solar panels and behind the house was a lake.
" Can this town get any creepier or surprising?" Amber asked while folding her arms and rubbing them.
" Depends on the definition of creepy and Surprising" Deby replies while holding one finger up and giving Amber a creepy smile.
They walked into the house, the inside was dark. Amber wasn't comfortable with this , suddenly the lights came on. She couldn't believe what she was seeing right in front of her. She was speechless then in that slight moment, what was she seeing she thought, it was Davis and two other teenagers who all said together "Surprise!!".
"What's this about?" Amber asked not even knowing whether to slap Deby or hug her.
"Well, it's a welcome to town party" Bob replied while using his right hand to push his hair backwards.
"We just thought of throwing you a party as a way of telling you that we will help you stop the phantom" Scott added to the reply
Davis walks up to Amber, puts his hands on her shoulders and said "I know deep down you still think Dad's death was your fault,but it's not... It's Micheal Everlove's..."
"No, Everlove is actually a victim" Amber said while looking down her left shoulder.
"What do you mean by that ?" He replied while squinting his right eye.
"You don't understand because you don't know the story or should I say bullshit lie Hampton Fire told us" she rolled her eyes angrily.
"Calm down Amber, explain further" Bob interrupts as he closed the door and raised his right palm towards her to caution her.
Amber took a deep breath and continued " Sorry Davis, this is the story Hampton told us " after a few minutes,she was done with the story. Then added "But when Michael grabbed him the night he killed my father,our Dad... Micheal said Hampton was the reason Hillary died, Hampton was the one who put the ask there , Hampton said it was a mistake,that it was a joke."
"But what sort of sick joke is that ?" Davis asked with knitted brows
Amber pulls a lock of her hair back then said "We can't be sure who's right and who's wrong now, but right now, I'm sorry,we should try to live a little here before we plan what to do with Hampton or Micheal the CURSED PHANTOM"
They gathered around a dinning table behind them with four wine bottles,eight glass cups, eight plates and two turkeys on the middle of the table with a bowl of rice and tomato sauce and  then they sat on chairs, Amber sat next to Bob, opposite them were Davis and Deby then across the left side of the table were two teenagers who hadn't introduced themselves and to the right was Scott.
"We are all gathered here to celebrate Friendship,new bonds and old" Scott said while raising a glass of wine.
" To friendship" Amber added with a smile on her face while raising her cup as well.
They all repeated what she said "To friendships" , "Let's eat".
"Oh before I forget" said one of the teenagers ,a slim African American boy." My name is John Adebayo and my sister is Christiania Adebayo,we just moved in here last week. We don't really know much about this place so we decided to get to know people our age" he concluded
"I can speak for myself John, anyways he has said it all" Christiania added
"Glad to meet you both" Amber said nicely
And they dined till midnight and slept over , returning to the town at dawn.
