Hit with your body, not just your fist.
Don't think about how much it will hurt.
And for the love of God, don't put your thumb inside your fist.I remembered it all when I saw your stepbrother. Okay, probably not all of it, but I remembered to look and put my thumb outside my fist. And I ran before he could even stand up straight and chase me.
And for the first time, I didn't hear my sister's hollowed voice saying cruel things. Instead, I could almost hear her laughing and proudly shouting at me.
