Thankfully, I had no more bad dreams. We woke early in the morning and went to breakfast with the Fellowship and Elrond.
I sat between Legolas and Sam as we ate our dinner. The Hobbits chatted excitedly as I focused on my plate.
I picked up my fork and tried to stab a strawberry, but I saw the glimmering again on my hand and I jumped, dropping my fork with a clatter onto my plate.
"Are you alright, Katherine?" Aragorn asked curiously.
I was never clumsy, and hardly ever dropped things.
"Um, yes." I replied distractedly.
The conversation resumed as I once again focused on picking up the strawberry.
I raised my fork, but this time my weak wrist let out a sharp pain.
I yelped and dropped my fork yet again.
Everyone's eyes swung to stay upon me. I looked up nervously.
"Please excuse me." I whispered and ran out of the room, knocking my chair over in the process.
Legolas got up out of his chair and excused himself as well.
He was so perceptive of my problems.
I stopped in the hall and held my left wrist. It ached as usual, but there was no obvious evidence of why it had pained me so much.
I was so embarrassed. Nobody else had as many problems as I did.
Tears rolled down my cheeks.
My emotions were so sensitive now, and I hated it.
"Hey, hey. Don't cry, darling."
Legolas wiped my tears away and hugged me.
"Why am I like this?" I asked him.
He lifted my chin and looked deeply into my eyes.
"I don't know, but we will fix this. I promise."
He then kissed me gently on the lips, holding his lips there for a few seconds and then pulling away.
"Let's go back. We need to speak to Elrond about this."
I nodded and wiped my tears away. I took his hand and we walked back to breakfast.
After everyone was finished, Legolas, Gandalf, Elrond, and I stayed behind.
"What's going on with you two?" Gandalf asked.
"Something has been happening to me." I started off.
"What sort of thing?" Elrond said.
"She's been seeing things....under her skin." Legolas spoke for me.
"It's like something is shining under the surface. That's why I was so jumpy this morning."
I quickly explained.
"Let me see." Elrond gestures towards me.
I stood and walked over.
He took my hand and hovered his hand over my skin.
Something with a goldish-tint rose up and stayed under the surface.
"What is that?" I asked urgently.
"I think I know what it is." Gandalf finally spoke.
"What?" Legolas wondered.
"It's your gift, Katherine. Every immortal has a gift. Elrond's is foreseeing the future, Galadriel's is telepathy. We don't quite know what Legolas' is, though. It should be like yours since you two are connected."
