Legolas' Point of View

"Seems like something keeps pulling us all apart." Katherine said quietly, looking as if she had lost something.

She needed a break, I could tell.
I put my hand in hers and we both walked out of Edoras on foot.
We slowly meandered towards Kat's Haven, as I had begun to call it.

As we got closer to the foot of the mountain, the temperature began to get colder and colder.

When we finally reached the meadow, it was quite cold. Cold enough to need a jacket, but warm enough to not freeze.

As we entered the clearing, I heard Katherine gasp in surprise.

The meadow was completely white with snow.
Everything was untouched, pure and perfect.

Katherine didn't need to say anything as she carefully walked into the meadow, her boots crunching on top of the snow.

"It's so beautiful." She said in wonderment.

I walked up to her and said just about the cheesiest line ever.
"Nothing is as beautiful as you."

Katherine blushed, her red cheeks contrasting with the white snow.

I kissed one of her red cheeks and led her out into the open.

She laughed and giggled as she fell to the ground and rolled in the snow for the sheer fun of it.
After awhile, she stood up with snow speckled in her golden hair.
I laughed as I tried to pick the snowflakes out of her soft hair.

As if on cue, snow began to fall slowly from the sky and falling on and around us.

Katherine looked up at me, like an angel glowing amongst the whiteness.
My breath hitched in my chest as she leaned in.

Her lips gently touched mine, causing my stomach to do flips.
I always felt nervous when I kissed her because she had been my first kiss and I never knew if I was doing it right. She was the only person I had ever kissed in my life, and I never wanted to ever kiss anyone else.

Everything was perfect. Katherine was the only person who could make my heart skip a beat.
The only person who could make me feel complete.
Because I was in lo- wait.
I wasn't. Was I?

I pulled away as she grinned widely at me, running across the ground and stopping a few yards away.
She knelt to the ground for a moment and then stood up, her hands behind her back.

As I walked towards her, something hit me on the shoulder.
She had hit me with a snowball!

"Oh, it is on!" I growled out playfully, scooping up snow and making my own weapons.

The game went on until I finally surrendered.
I must have gotten a few bruises on my body from her strong left throwing arm.

I grabbed her hand, both of us breathless, and pulled her towards the small pond at the corner of the meadow, which was frozen over in ice.

Katherine stopped and let go of my hand.
I knew she would because she couldn't swim, but it was ice.
It wouldn't break, right?

"Come on. It'll be alright." I coaxed her.

Her eyebrows furrowed with conflict.
"I'll catch you if you fall." I whispered in her ear.

She nervously smiled and softly took my hand again.

I carefully led her out onto the ice. We were both clumsy as we slid around on the ice.
We let go of each other while we flailed around for balance.
