My sense of falling was stopped as someone grabbed my left hand.

Legolas was leaning over and holding onto me, keeping me from falling to my demise.

"What are you doing?" I yelled up at him.

"I won't ever let you go. We can work through this. Together." He yelled back through the strong wind.

I could feel my left wrist giving out from under his fingers.

"Give me your other hand!"
He reached out as far as he could, but my hand stayed at my side.

"You can't save everyone, Legolas."
He always had to be so perfect in everything he did.
Something I could never be for him.

"I may not be able to save everyone, but I can save you."
Legolas said gently as he looked down at my tired eyes.

My wrist made a cracking noise as it broke, but Legolas readjusted his grip onto my forearm.

"Please. Let me go." I pleaded with him.

My left shoulder suddenly shifted as I felt it giving out with all the weight of my body.
If my shoulder dislocated, my body weight would be just hanging on with the muscles in my shoulder.

My eyes looked up and locked with his. Icy blue and dark blue-green, total opposites, yet both pairs filled with fear and pain.

"Never." He whispered so quietly that I could hardly hear him.

My shoulder popped, leaving my muscles to hold onto over a hundred pounds of weight.
I screamed out as hard as I could, squeezing my eyes shut as tears began to form.

"It's going to hurt even more if you don't give me your other hand, Kat."
Legolas said practically, but with urgency.

I opened my eyes and took a deep breath.
My right hand swung up and clasped his hand.

With a mighty heave, he pulled me up and back onto the ledge.
Legolas held me tightly as I began sobbing into his chest.

"I love you Kat, it's alright. It'll be better, I promise." We sat there for a long while, him rocking me from side to side, rubbing my back and whispering over and over that it would be alright.

He carried me to my room, where nurses popped my shoulder back in and rubbed my muscles gently.
Legolas took over and massaged my shoulder as tears still dripped down my face.
Éomer had broken me with his words and Legolas knew it by seeing his hurtful words circulate in my mind.

Gandalf walked in with a horribly sad look on his face.
He took my broken wrist and and waved his hand over it.
I felt the bones heal again, but I would always have the ache.

He then dropped my hand and walked out without a word.
Gandalf was disappointed in me, that was clear, yet he would never understand the pain and suffering I felt each day. Maybe he had his own demons, but mine were brutal.

Legolas stopped rubbing my shoulder and got up, kissing my forehead.
"I need to go talk to Aragorn. Don't go anywhere." He spoke seriously and then left the room, locking the door behind him to ensure that I wouldn't do anything else.

I slowly slipped off the bed, crawling til I reached the center of the floor.
My knees went up to my chest as my right arm wrapped around them. My left arm lay limp on the floor next to me, unable to move.

I closed my eyes and created a huge bubble around me, shutting me out from the world.

When Legolas came back, he found me curled up in a ball in the center of my protection shield.
