Dick

A few weeks later~

Looking at her face I felt a smile cross my face. Earlier that day, Bruce and I made the decision to turn off all the machines. I will admit I was nervous but when nothing changed I got excited. She was trying, that's all that mattered. I touched her long brunette hair and placed the flower barrette in her hair. She was wearing the same hospital gown she had since the day we brought her home and took her from her blood riddled clothing.

"She looks amazing." I looked up to see Emerald in the door way with Connor behind her.

"Listen we are all going to watch a movie. I know you usually say no but I have to offer." Connor said and I looked down at Zena. Her hands we folded over her stomach. She looked like a goddess.

"Thank you for the offer but I'm going to pass." I told them and Connor smiled.

"We will be in the livingroom if you change your mind." He said and they left the door open a little. I sighed and took my seat beside her, pulling out my book. I didn't like to read fiction but it was about a super hero named Maxis and for some reason it drew my attention. I was almost finished with the 1678 page book. I was on page 1666 and Maxis had just finished  defeating the villain to find out it was his brother. As I read the smell of popcorn filled the halls and entered the room. I sighed as my stomach growled and I heard the front door close. I could hear laughing and talking but I tried not to let it distract me.

But why Lars? Maxis asked as he approached his crippled brother. Because you were always the good brother, I thought I needed to be evil to gain attention. Lars said looking down.

"Dick?" I jumped and looked down to see Addison holding out her hands. Her blue eyes looked drained and she had bags under her eyes but she held them open looking into my face, searching.

"A-" I paused a feeling I had never felt filling my entire body. I dropped the book from my lap and got on my knees beside the bed, pulling her skinny body to mine.

"Addison, you're awake." I cried in her shoulder as she arms wrapped around my body.

"I love you Dick Grayson." She whispered into my ear and I pulled away looking into her eyes. The tears kept coming as I kissed her lips. We kissed for a few moments when she pulled away and I looked into her face.

"I'm sorry." She said and I shook my head.

"No, I should have never left you." I said and she smiled.

"How long?" She asked and I sat on the edge of the bed.

"Four and a half months." I told her and her eyes widened.

"What about Colby?" She asked and I looked down.

"He didn't make it." I told her and she grabbed my hand.

"Good, he escaped that monsters grip." She said her eyes flickering around the room.

"How about the girl?" She asked and I looked down.

"We almost lost her too but Bruce kept her in hospital care until about a month ago. She walked out a new person." I told her and she smiled. She pushed her elbows under herself and went to lift herself. I seen the struggle in her eyes and went to help but she shook her head.

"I want to do it on my own." She said and I nodded backing up as she slowly pushed and pulling herself to a sitting up position. She used the side of the bed to sit up and I scooted her back so she could lean against the wall.

"Where are the others?" She asked and I stood up.

"I'll get them." I said and she smiled.

"Hurry back my love." She said as I rushed from the room and down the hall, stairs and another hall into the livingroom. Everyone was around Heliconia smiling at her when I entered the room and they all turned.

"She's awake!" I called before turning and running back up to the room. When I reached I could here the sounds of them running up the steps. Bruce was the first followed by Clark and Heli, then Emerald, Lily, Kara and Connor.

"Heli." Zena smiled and Heliconia began crying as she hugged her friend. When they finished Clark nodded and said hello while Bruce began getting medical supplies out. We worked around her, taking her blood pressure, temperature and heart.

"Thank you." She said after saying hello to everyone and we finished.

"I've never been so cared for." She said her tears welling up. I sat on the right side of her, everyone else stood at her left.

"We would have never left you behind." Kara said stepping forward and taking her hand.

"Your part of the family." Clark said and Bruce smiled nodding.

"Thank you all so much." She said crying. I put my hand on her shoulder, rubbing it.

"It's nice to see you awake." Emerald said before turning with Connor in tow. Everyone left the room except Heliconia.

"I'll see you later, okay?" She said leaning down and kissing Zena on the forehead.

"Okay." Addison replied and Heli turned leaving the room.

"Its all so nice of them." She said looking up at me.

"They were telling the truth, Addison." I said and she winced.

"What's wrong?" I asked and she looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

"That name reminds me of pain and saddness." She said and I frowned.

"It's so beautiful though." She looked down.

"My mother gave me that name." She said looking down.
