"My mother gave me that name." I said looking as. I could feel him stroking my arm as memories crossed my mind, ones that had been locked away never to be seen again.
~Memory~
"I'm home." I said as I walked into the living room to see my mother laying on the couch as she always did. She had one hand resting on a liquor bottle and the other holding paper in her hand.
"I went outside today." She said looking at me. I stood in the doorway as she threw the papers and they bounced off the wall next to me.
"You father wants a divorce." She said and I stared down at the court papers.
"He's going to want those papers back and them he's gonna come get you." She said and my ear perked up. I looked toward her with hope in my eyes.
"But I won't let him hurt you sweet heart." She said sitting up and taking a swig of alcohol. In a swift moment I grabbed the bottle from her hand and threw it against the wall.
"Sober up." I said as I turned and walked up the stair to my bedroom.
"Excuse me? Who the fuck do you think you are?" She asked following me up. I had reached the top step when she grabbed one of my long locks and tugged on it, almost causing me to fall backwards.
"Stop it! You are nothing but a druggie, drunk and horrible mother." I said and seen something in her change. She instantly grabbed me by the neck and pushed me against the wall.
"You have no right to disrespect me child! I pushed you from my body. I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it!" She screamed making it to where I couldn't breath. I felt my eyes popping out of their sockets as I drove my knee into her stomach. She let go of me but in her drunken state, took too many steps backwards. On her last step she bumped the unstable railing and it broke. It all happened in slow motion as she fell backwards with the railing, her hands swaying as tears filled her eyes. I watched as she fell down and landed on the wooden bar, for the railing, sticking up out of her stomach. A scream escaped me and I fell to my knees. I seemed to black out while I reached for the phone and called 911.
"My condolences Miss." The officer said as I sat on the couch weeping. She was a monster but she was my mother. No one could hate the person who brought them into the world that much. It was my fault my mother had died. They determined with the amount of drugs and alcohol in her system that she should have been dead before but the fall just seemed to push it quickier. They told me I wouldn't have to go to a orphanage because I was eighteen and that since she didn't have a husband everything she owned went to me. I sold the house and her car before leaving town with Colby.
Present
I felt someone shake me and looked up to see Dick looking at me.
"We need to start therapy soon." He said and I nodded.
