Today, I picked Lauren up from her first day of Middle School. She's growing up too fast, it feels like yesterday I first held her in my arms.

"How was school, Sweetie?" I asked, as I grabbed her bag and started to walk home.

"It was amazing! I met some amazing friends, too!" She smiled up at me. "And I love all of my teachers! They're so nice!"

"That's amazing, baby!" All of the sudden, I felt a drop of water hit my nose. "I think it's starting to rain.." Laurie shivered when a drop hit her arm, so I pit my coat onto her.

"Its starting to rain hard!" She laughed, starting to run. We both started to sprint, laughing at each other. Her hair was a wet mess, and I couldn't even imagine what mine look like. We finally got back home, and ran up the steps. Laurie turned the door handle, but it was locked.

We both started to bang onto the door, until Sarah opened it up.

"Welcome home, you little rascals!" We got inside and started to dry off.

"Dad! DAD!!" Laurie yelled as she ran into the living room.

"What?!"

"Time for dinner!" I laughed as I got up from the couch. Sarah made Chicken and dumplings, Laurie's favorite, and also mine. We sat down and began to eat.

"So," Sarah started. "Meet any boys today?"

"No." Laurie said, looking at me. She knows the rule. No dating until 15. And definitely no sex until at least 18. She's smart, I don't think she's going to end up like me.

"Good." Laurie looked at me.

"I'm not interested in guys. I like girls." I put my spoon down and looked at her. "I'm gay." I stood up and picked her up, spun her around, then put her down.

"Oh, baby! I didn't think it was possible for me to love you even more!" I kissed her forehead.

"Congrats, Laurie!" Sarah smiled.

"Thanks! I knew it would be very easy to come out! I mean, you guys are amazing, and you Dad are very open about this type of stuff." I hugged Laurie again.
