The next day Insoo got up before dawn to start an early shift down on the docks. Hours had passed of him hauling fish in a wheelbarrow back and forth, and he was finally almost done. On his last trip up the ramp, he saw a dark car pull through the drive way. The car stopped, the doors opened and several men got out, including Gunwoo. Insoo's shoulders sank in disappointment, Gunwoo would definitely have some explaining to do later.

Gunwoo stepped out of the car and followed the other men towards the conference center. His heart was hammering in his chest, but he's made it this far so he will continue to fake his nonchalance. They led him up a flight of stairs, much to Gunwoo's distaste, and into a room filled with chairs facing a stage. There were two men siting behind a table on the stage and as Gunwoo and his posse sat down one of the men started talking. Gunwoo didn't really pay attention to what anyone was saying, there was a territory being signed over to a rival boss or something but Gunwoo had bigger fish to fry. His boss had rode with him in the back seat on the way here, and informed him of his mission for today. After the conference, he was to catch the guy on stage's lackeys outside and beat them up a little bit.
The two men droned on and on, when in reality all the guy had to do was sign a paper and get on with it in Gunwoo's opinion. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the two men on stage shook hands and Gunwoo knew this was his time to get to work.
He left the room through a hidden side door his boss had pointed out earlier, and hurriedly snuck through the hallways to the main walking overpass in the center of the building. He slowed his pace to a walk as he saw a group of men round the corner at the other end of the walkway. Gunwoo switched himself back into his cool mode as he sauntered to meet the men in the middle of the overpass.
Now Gunwoo was expecting some chit-chat first, maybe a cheesy one liner, or even a scary threat, but there was none of that. Immediately the man on the left lunged at Gunwoo, but he successfully dodged the man's punch. Before Gunwoo could finish push the first man to the ground another man jumped towards him. Gunwoo punched the second man, knocking him to the ground instantly. The last two men ran at Gunwoo at the same time while their boss, the man who was on stage, continued to watch Gunwoo intensely. The two men tried to grab Gunwoo's arms, but Gunwoo managed to push the man on the right off then elbow him in the face. Once his hand was free it was easy for Gunwoo to hit the last man.
When Gunwoo straightened himself up and looked back up at the man from the stage, he was shocked to see several more men run up behind the man. Gunwoo silently prayed he wouldn't have to single-handily fight off any more people. Thankfully the boss waved the men back; he just stared at Gunwoo for a really long moment, then turned and left making all the men follow closely behind him.
Once the group had disappeared around the corner, Gunwoo sighed deeply as he body sagged in relief. He rolled his head back to stare at the ceiling, breathing deeply for a couple seconds. He had been so terrified all morning lowkey knowing he was going to have to take on a gang alone, but alas, he super fighting skills and coolness never fails him. After he had fully collected himself, he turned around and started making his way slowly down the stairs to the back door, where he was told the car would be waiting to pick him up and take him back home.
As he exited the building through the back door, he walked out into an alley way with the car parked tightly directly in front of the door. Gunwoo slid into the backseat, and saw his boss waiting in the other back seat.
"Wow, not even a scratch on you. I'm impressed, I was told there were at least three guys back there." His boss said studying him, but not looking as impressed as he had said.
"Four actually," Gunwoo quietly said, wondering why he couldn't keep his mouth shut even in front of the scary man. His boss raised an eyebrow at his comment, but smirked before looking away out the front windshield. They pulled up to the curb, making Gunwoo look up. They were already back at his apartment complex. Well doesn't time fly when you scared out of your mind, Gunwoo thought to himself.
"Anyway, here's what you've earned today. I'll contact you next time you are needed," His boss handed him an envelope. Gunwoo quickly tucked it into his inner jacket pocket and shuffled out of the door. The car sped off as soon as his door swung shut. Gunwoo rushed into the building and started his long sprint up the stairs. Huffing and already sweating, Gunwoo neared his door, and he was delighted to find the handle not locked. He barged into the apartment almost not hearing, but mostly ignoring, Mrs. Kim scolding him for making a racket in the hallway.
"Seyonggie, sweetheart, I'm home." Gunwoo flung his shoes off and rounded in to the kitchen to find Seyong chopping some sort of green vegetable for a soup he was making. "I missed you deary," Gunwoo smiled while he plopped down in the stool on the other side of the island. Seyong scrunched up his nose at the pet names, but played along anyway.
"How was work, honey? Are you tired, my little spoon?" He asked as he continued to chop up his ingredients.
"Seyong! How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that, I am not the little spoon," Gunwoo pretended to act offended, but Seyong just looked up at him through his falling bangs, "But yes, Boo I am VERY tired and also very hungry." Gunwoo pouted.
"Well this soup will be done in five minutes, then we can eat, watch netflix, and you can fall asleep on the couch like you always do."
"I will not fall asleep on the couch," Gunwoo argued, while Seyong looked at him disbelievingly.

45 minute later Seyong paused the movie, and sighed as he rolled himself off of the couch. He collected their bowls, and looked over at Gunwoo snuggled into the couch, snoring away. He shook his head while quietly laughing at his best friend, then headed to the kitchen to put away the dirty dishes. He needed to wake up Gunwoo so he could move, then hurry up and get ready for bed because he had an early morning tomorrow; first day at a new job.
As he was leaning over Gunwoo, shaking him awake, he noticed a splatter of blood on the other boy's dress shirt. Insoo and him had talked earlier about their concerns with his new job. Almost everyone knew what it had to be but the boys were too scared to even say it out loud, and they couldn't figure out how to prevent it before it was too late. What are we going to do with you? Seyong thought as he helped a barely awake Gunwoo stumble to his room.
