"Please, please, pleaaase? I promise (F/n), you won't regret it!"

I flicked my eyes up, glancing briefly at the pleading blonde in front of me, before lowering them once more to my book. It was times like these that reminded me exactly why I hated people so damn much.

"Well?" she asked loudly when I didn't answer. Her voice tore into the quiet of the coffee shop like a sharp blade. I merely flipped to the next page of my book, using my fingers to slowly smooth the paper flat before answering.

"Absolutely not."

Ino groaned, slamming her head obnoxiously on the table and earning us several looks from disgruntled customers.

"Come on (F/n)! Why are you being so stubborn about this?"

"Why are you being so persistent?" I questioned, glaring at her softly from over my reading glasses. "I said no, and that's final. Now would you please be quiet, you're making a scene."

Ino opened her mouth to retort but stopped herself. A strange look passed over her face, causing me to lower my book in apprehension. I didn't exactly care about hurting her feelings, but the last thing I needed was for her to starting crying her eyes out in the middle of a packed coffee shop. I sighed, setting the book on the table.

"Ino, I'm—,"

Before I could even finish my sentence, the Yamanaka threw herself onto her knees in front of me, clutching my sweater in her hands.

"Please, please, please, please, please, please, PLEASE?!?!!" With each 'please' she shook me back and forth, causing my glasses to slip from my face and my book to fall from my hands and onto the ground. Customers were throwing us very dirty looks at this point, some hushing us quietly while others muttered rude profanities in our direction. Ino disregarded them completely. Instead, she raised her voice even louder until she was practically screaming in my face.

"OKAY!" The word slipped from my mouth, loud and agitated, surprising even myself.

Ino froze, mouth hanging open in shock. I pushed her off of me and straightened my sweater, reaching down afterwards to collect my glasses and book.

"Okay? Okay, you'll do it?"

I set my items gently on the table and closed my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose with a sigh of exasperation.

"If it means that you'll finally shut the hell up, then fine. I'll go on this stupid little blind date."

I braced myself for more screaming, expecting Ino to fully lose her shit now that I finally agreed, but was surprised to be greeted with silence instead. I opened my eyes to see Ino sitting calmly in her seat, smiling at me in a way that made me want to claw her eyes out.

"I knew you'd come around eventually," she said sweetly, picking up her mug of tea and sipping it.

*~*~*

Two days later I found myself sitting bitterly at the park, waiting for this mystery guy to show up. The November sun was already sinking low in the sky, despite it being early in the evening. I chewed on my lower lip impatiently, glancing every few seconds at my watch. It was 5:27 p.m.

Three minutes. If he's not here in three minutes, I'm leaving.

Despite the cold, Ino had all but forced me into wearing one of her many dresses for the occasion – a small, (f/c) number that fell just above my knees, coupled with a dainty pair of heels. I kept tugging the hem of the skirt down self-consciously, hoping that I hadn't been forced into overdressing. What if this guy showed up wearing sweats and a hoodie? I groaned silently to myself, feeling more awkward by the minute. Why the hell did I agree to this?
