Christmas wish

I stood there and stared up at the sky, i looked back at my foster house and frowned a little. My Christmas wish... this year.. most like all the other years, I wish... my Christmas wish.. my birthday wish.. my 11/11 wish. Any kind of wish you could think of.. My wish is for a family.

Sure, my big brothers and sister protect me from anything that might cause me harm, even the monster in my closet..but I just want a mom and dad, maybe a big sibling to protect me, I want to get out of this dumb foster house.. I hardly ever see our foster parents, the oldest is reliable to take care of us, see us safely to school, prepare meals, take us to events..

"Y/n!! Get in the house you'll freeze!!" The oldest named Charles cried "it's not safe, you'll catch phenomena" He swept me off my feet and hauled me inside as I shivered and looked at my snow covered snow pants and boots. Guess I was out for a little 'too long'. Long enough for someone to notice i was gone. In total I had 5 siblings, there's the oldest, Charles who was 17, then it was my 'sister' taylor who was 15, then there were the devil twin boys Marcus and Joe who were 13, and then the youngest of us all, Skylar who was only 4 years old.

I jumped on the couch and stared out the window to watch the snow fall.

"Y/N, come help set up the tree!" 1 of the twins shouted from down in the basement

I looked over at the open basement door and frowned. The tree was hardly a tree at all. It was plastic and it was tiny, each year a light would burn out or a row of lights but we never fixed them. Each kid got 1 present each year, if we were lucky it was a toy but most of the time it was new clothes.. Foster care bites.

I got up and threw on my coat, pants and boots as I ventured outside once more. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing but I started to run. Run run run as fast as I could as the snow crunched under my boots. I laughed and frolicked in the snow. I know it's nothing new but we hardly get as much snow as this and it doesn't stay that long.. it eventually gets melted by the next morning or the morning after that, it can get pretty warm during winter, warm enough to melt snow as quickly as it came. I had ran down a few blocks and turned, I didn't know where I was but I didn't care at that point I was so immersed in my play I didn't hear anything around me as I slipped on the black ice and slid into the street "uh oh.." I started to stand but wobbled as I struggled to get up. I was on a sheet of ice. I just kept falling I couldn't get up no matter how hard I tried so instead I tried to slide across it to get to the other side. I was almost there when I seen head lights. Really close headlights.. a little TOO close of head lights.. "CHARLES!!!" I screamed as I heard the screeching of tires

I slid across the ice and into a pile of snow as the tires stopped. I seen the truck had plowed onto the sidewalk and into the snow as someone jumped out of the drivers side "Jesus christ! Did you see that?!"

A car stopped behind it as another person got out "What the hell happened??"

"I-i don't know! Someone was crossing the street! I slammed on the brakes and I don't know where they went! God I hope I didn't hit it! It looked like A child!" A man exclaimed

I shivered as I sat up from the snow "Charles..." I shivered as tears started running down my face, I quickly got up and looked around but everything looked the same, white crisp snow.. and it was still falling. The wind picked up as the 2 people paused when they seen me

"There!" A man pointed

"Dear god!" They trotted over to me "are you alright?? What are you doing out here, kid?"
