I inhaled the fresh air of Miami once again and felt the sun burning on my skin like it only could here. 'Home' was the first thing that came to mind while I took in the all too familiar surroundings. The hot boiling weather in Miami was incomparable to the weather back in New York. I missed this city so damn much. The opportunity to wear shorts without funny looks on the street, the long strolls on the beach late at night, were some of the things I was deprived off back in New York. It felt like my re-acquaintance with the sunny weather of my home city could also serve as a metaphor for my past, as it was like feeling the first warmth of the sun on my face after a freezing winter in New York, where the same heat was an unknown feeling for too damn long.

I wasn't only sun deprived because of the less sunny weather in the north but also from being locked up in a traveling bus for nearly two days, which was a chaotic experience of its own. I hated long distance traveling by bus, but it was the only option I could muster in such short notice. No matter how uncomfortable the bus ride was, it served its purpose by getting me back to my home town and at the campus where I would be staying at.

I carried a carton box with all of my belongings in, to get settled in my dorm. I didn't really possess much so it wasn't really that heavy to carry. I only owned a few shirts, crop tops and shorts that I bought while I was staying at Jacob's and Bea's. The only thing that might of made it slightly heavy were the handful of books I owned. Like I said, I am sort of a book nerd. The only other thing I had with me was an acoustic guitar in a bag, that was hanging loosely on my shoulder. It was an old guitar from Jacob. He was kind enough to let me borrow it so I could keep on practicing. I never thought myself as very good at it but I loved music none the less.

I figured that I didn't need much to bring with me since I planned on buying whatever I needed here. Of course, that would mean that I had to look for a student job to be able to do that but I wouldn't worry about that yet. I had plenty of time before I would run out of money. It helped that I didn't have to pay for my studies or that I had to pay rent. It was all taken care of by my scholarship. Food and clothes however, weren't covert in the scholarship but I spared enough the last few months, to at least survive 3 more months. I was pretty confident that I would find a job before I was completely broke.

I was walking down the street at a secluded part of campus, where my dorm would be located. It wasn't too far away from my literature building where I would be attending in two days. I estimated it would only take about ten minutes on foot to get there. In front of my dorm there was an enormous grass field filled with benches, a few trees here and there and paths to walk on. It resembled a small park, really. I already imagined myself laying there on the grass while writing something. It was a beautiful place that could help me finding some peace of mind.

The building itself was built with white stones and had a lot of long stretched windows. It gave of a sunny and light vibe and I already loved it from the outside. I walked up to glass front door and was instantly met with the modern hallway at the ground floor. I took a small piece of paper out of my shorts back pocket to see at which floor my room was located. It read 'building B, room 201 at the second floor '. I almost let out an happy shriek when I saw there was an elevator. Not that there is anything wrong with stairways but my arms were getting tired of caring the box. I immediately got in the elevator as soon as it arrived because I couldn't wait to finally see my room. I was so excited to see the place where I was going to stay this entire year. To say I had high expectations was an understatement. I mean the whole building itself was building up my expectations of the room.

Right before the doors closed someone quickly pushed an arm between the opening preventing it from closing.

"Wait, hold the elevator!" the unknown person yelled with an high pitched, out of breath voice. It definitely was a girl by that voice. I pushed the button to open the door and they immediately responded by revealing a stunning dark skinned girl. She had curly dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, which were almost as dark as her pupils. She was holding a big suitcase, so I assumed she would also be staying in this building.
