Vincent's hair was neatly styled in to his trademark ponytail, and it no longer looked greasy. his face was clean shaven and He wore a white button down shirt paired with a black overcoat, dark denim jeans, and topped off with a purple tie. overall he looked very nice.

You wore jeans and a T-shirt.

the contrast was a little jarring, and you were a little embarrassed for dressing so casually compared to vincent (all you had in mind was looking presentable) but he didn't seem to mind.

the date ended up being very pleasant. You had a filling dinner, learned a lot about Vincent, like how his grandparents immigrated from Argentina, and that his favorite color was purple. (No surprise there.)

he didn't trash talk any of your friends and kept the conversation focused on you. You shared a pastry for desert and finally the date ended, after around two hours. it was 8:34

you left with a good impression and a full belly. You couldn't wait to see him again.

On saturday morning, you checked the phone only to find a voice mail. From vincent, no less. You listened.

"Hey, Y/N." he sounded smooth as ever. "I didn't really expect you to be up, haha. just wanted to let you know that I had a really good time with you last night. after you left i just couldn't help but want to go on another date with you as soon as possible. so i was thinking. there's one of those drive in theaters tonight, you know the ones that were popular a few years back. Why don't we go to that? we can meet up at my house beforehand and have a quick dinner. yeah? (Sorry this is at such an early hour. I have another job already, and I need to be at it.) Ring me back!"

you were ecstatic to be going on another date with vincent so soon! But, you reminded yourself, don't move too fast. You two aren't even officially dating yet.

You called Vincent back after 6, when you were sure he would be off work, and you worked out a time with him. you were to meet him at his place in 30 minutes. He informed you of his address and left you to do whatever you needed.

You walked.

Vincent was far more underdressed than he was last time. ("Why dress fancy for a place you won't even be able to see me in?") You told him he looked fine, just as handsome as ever.

the two of you had about an hour to kill until 8:00. enough time to make a pot full of spaghetti, is what Vincent called it. He didn't hesitate to make toast either.

Toast is a breakfast food, you told him. Toast is an always food, he replied.

unsurprisingly, the dinner was amazing. you both just sat at the kitchen table and ate your platefuls. You twirled sauce coated noodles around your fork. Then something came to you. staring at vincent's purple shirt, you remembered how you met him in the first place. He was snooping around the office. What was he doing there, anyway? You never did get an answer.

Vincent was in the middle of sprinkling way more parmesan than necessary on to his dish when you asked him. He stopped, stared at the table, and then continued sprinkling.

"Just looking for a few important files." he said stiffly.

Why did he seem so reluctant to say that the first time? What was he hiding?

"I'm not hiding anything! why jump to conclusions like that?" he accused you.

you really didn't want this to escalate in to an argument, but you really felt like he was keeping something important from you. and maybe even everyone else. So start with a simple question. How'd he even get in before you?

Vincent answered that one without much resistance. "Through the window. They're never locked." he stated curtly.

Oh my.

you were about to continue pressing, when Vincent checked the time. "Oh! I lost track! It's nearly  o' clock!"

you dropped the subject after that.

You both hopped in to his car and set off, it bumping a little on the way. He off handedly mentioned how he should probably get it in to the shop soon.

As you sat with vincent, leaning in to him, basking in the light of the movie projected on to the large board, feeling his free hair spill over your shoulder, you felt strangely peaceful. Until Vincent's hand started to creep slowly up your thigh.

The fingers danced up to your waist, and stopped there. You heard the rustling of fabric, and suddenly, you could feel vincent's breath on your face. and then he kissed you. Open mouthed, no warning, with his chapped lips.

Incredibly startled, you pushed him off. You couldn't see Vincent's face. what was he thinking?

You weren't sure if this ushered an apology or not. you apologized anyway. you said he was moving to fast. The only thing he replied with was a "My bad."

for the rest of the movie you were both strangely rigid. You didn't lean up against his chest anymore, and the taste of smoke lingered on your tongue.

When vincent was dropping you off at your house, after a ride of silence, he said he was disappointed at the sour note the date left off on. You said you agreed, just for the sake of agreeing.

maybe you should get a little space from him for a while.

A/N: i'm a little disappointed with this chapter, and it doesn't even reach the goal of 1000 words. i hope you can forgive me and that the next chapter is better! :/
