It was 11:50 PM, a solid ten minutes to the beginning of the year 2018, or, more specifically, a solid nine minutes and forty-seven seconds.

A million colorful sparks littered the sky, accompanied by a deafening pop, albeit the noise was worth it for the gorgeous imagery. The two were standing on the rooftop of the warehouse that the record store had called home, the brick under their feet providing the ideal spot to look up at the thousands of fireworks rebellious teenagers in different corners of Seoul were setting off.

The sparkling dots frequently mixed in with the stars, the sky turning from navy to a borderline holographic mess in a matter of seconds as a result. Jimin secretly admired the shorter's awestruck profile, every color reflecting in the other boy's caramel eyes.

A smile slipped onto the younger boy's face as he adored the other's features, putting an arm around him to bring the mint-haired closer.

"Yoongi?" He cooed into the older's ear tentatively. "Who's your New Year's kiss?" The boy inquired teasingly, his fingers playing with loose tufts of the taller's short locks.

"You know him." Yoongi drawled, trailing off. "He's small and pretty amazing and the most handsome guy I've ever laid my eyes on." And, just like that, a blush crawled up onto the slender's face. With a giddy grin inhabiting his charming features, he turned around in an attempt to conceal the crimson dusted over his cheeks.

"He's one lucky guy." Jimin muttered, resting his head against the taller's, earning no more than a breathy chuckle from the dark-eyed.

11:55

Park's hands had gotten more and more jittery with every passing minute. He couldn't decide whether it was the many fireworks that, despite their beauty, sounded exactly like thousands of gunshots at once or just the prospect of being the enchanting boy's new year's kiss.

Maybe it was both.

Another one went off with a specifically loud crack that made the boy flinch strongly.

Definitely both.

Clearly noticing the other's fright, Yoongi massaged the sepia-eyed's back soothingly, as if to convey that everything would be alright. After all, they were only fireworks, but he couldn't bring himself to discard the other boy's fear. There was something legitimate in his jumpiness, something that he felt as well despite not minding the celebratory tradition. The air felt heavy and they both knew it, but they didn't let that get in the way of their excitement.

Sure, the underlying vibe of the situation did linger, but they tried their best not to let it ruin their experience entirely, knowing that the other's presence was enough to brighten the atmosphere anytime and anywhere.

Ignoring the unsettling weight he'd felt on his chest, Jimin buried his head in the crook of the taller's neck once more, muffling the loud pops to a certain degree.

At that moment, everything got better, the boy's uncertainty and apprehension beginning to fade away as Yoongi's care and kindness infiltrated his being.

11:59. One more minute, every millisecond second passing by at superhuman speed. Time always had gone by too fast, he wasn't ready for what was coming. The fireworks were going mad, the sky turning from the dark indigo shade that it had previously been to something that resembled spilt glitter. Bucketfuls of it.

Though there were no clocks in the immediate vicinity, Jimin could've sworn that he heard the longer hand ticking in rhythm with every second, the sound calming his rapidly palpitating heart.

Every moment lead him closer and closer to leaving both the perils and pleasantries the previous year had brung behind, walking into a new one with open arms.

Suddenly, everything went white, the sky crystal clear and speckled with millions of fireworks.

It was midnight, he knew it.

A new, clean notepad to fill up, he thought, and the sepia-eyed knew exactly what he wanted his first entry to be.

Feeling the taller's thumbs tracing circles over his hipbones, he tenderly placed his lips on the other's. Their mouths moved in sync, gently welcoming the other into a new eternity. Everything would be alright, their kiss insisted, everything would be better.

Their steamy exchange continued, restless motions mixed with excited flirtation.

Neither of them could've gotten enough.
