Family

"My dear, it is nice to finally meet you." I say to Marina.

She had arrived a few moments ago with Nic. She was frightened, that was obvious on her face.

"It's nice to meet you, your majesty." She says to me. She looks back and forth between Nic and his mother the asks, " Nic, didn't you say you had little sisters?"

"Yes, yes I did, would you like to meet them love?" he askes her. She nods her head yes, then proceeds to put the biggest smile on her face that I had ever seen on a mermaid.

"Oceania, can I speak to you for a moment?" I ask my wife.

"Mmhm, what is it my love?" she asks me.

"We have to talk to her about, well you know." I say to her.

"Ah yes, I'm certain that Nic has talked to her, but that would be something for later tonight my love. Let her enjoy this time with her new family." Oceania says to me. She turns around to kiss me on the cheek, then swims over to our children and the newest member of the family.

Later that night, after I had gotten to know everyone, I went to talk to Nic's parents. They had told me earlier in the day that they had needed to speak to me but I couldn't think of what they needed me for.

"You wanted to see me your majesty?" I ask Nic's dad.

"Ah yes Marina. Please come inside, I trust that you have had a good day so far?" he asks me. I nod yes to him.

"That is good my dear. Now we have something to discuss with you. Come and sit down." I swim over then sit, on what looked like sea foam, next to Nic's mom and dad.

"Has Nic talked to you about his family life at all?" I look at him puzzled.

"Yes, I obviously know he is a prince, and it I'm not sure why this has anything to do with me." I say to him, trying not to be disrespectful.

"That he is, and you are now his princess. So what this has to do with you my dear is, he is next in line for the crown. Now this won't come for a very long time but we didn't want any surprises to come to you." He says to me, grabbing Nic's moms hand.

"Oh, well I am ok with that. Can I say something your majesty's?" I ask them. They both smile and nod to me to talk. I think for a moment about what I'm about to say, because I knew how they felt about humans.

"My mother, she is alone, my father died a few years ago and I don't like the fact that she has no one anymore. Is there any way I will be able to visit her like Nic did me?" They look back and forth with each other for a moment.

"Yes, but unfortunately my dear it would only be allowed once a year." Nic's father says.

"Posyden, surely there must be something more you can do?" Nic's mom asks.

"You know better then that Oceania. Like I said my dear, once a year would be all I could allow, I'm sorry." I just stood there like an idiot, once a year, that was it. Well at least they were trying for me.

"Thank you, is there anything else you need from me?" I ask them.

"Yes," his mom says while swimming up to me. She puts her hand on my cheek then kisses my forehead, "call us by our names my dear, you are family to us now." She then gives me a huge hug and says, "now go to Nic, he is probably worried sick about you." I give her a hug and swim off to my lovely hunk of man that was waiting for me.

I swim around with my little sisters while I was waiting on Marina to get back from my parents room.

"NIC! Kita isn't sharing!" Shimmer screams to me. Honestly I don't know why Kita acted like that sometimes.

"Kita, why? Why do you pester her so much?" She looks at me, looks at Kita, then back at me and shrugs.

"Why did you do it to me when I was little?" She says while sticking her tongue out at me. I stick my tongue out at her and say, "Because I'm your big brother, it was and is my job to annoy you Kita."

"And that, Nic, is why I pester her. Now, we are going to bed. Goodnight Nic, Shimmer, lets go." I watch them swim up to their rooms. I take a look at our home, the castle looked like it was out of a movie, like the little mermaid, and the view from it was breath taking. I only hope that Marina likes being here and doesn't regret her decision.

"Now why on earth would I regret choosing to live in the sea?" I jump at the sound of her voice.

"Don't you know not to sneak up on a merman?" I say to her. She starts shaking her head, "Love, you are...a fraidy cat...and I think that it's funny." she says while laughing. I smile and laugh with her.

"Ha, yeah so I'm a little easy to scare..."

"A little huh? I've scared you twice in one day Nic."

"Bet you can't again." I say to her with a big smile on my face.

"You're on lover boy."
