I go to visit Marina's mom today to see how she was doing with not being with Marina. She was a lonely woman, but she had her mother-in -law like two seconds away but I'm pretty sure it still gets lonely in a big house by yourself. I was going to tell her more about my father and the whole him knowing about mermaids. I didn't have the chance to that day that I went to warn Marina; my dad had came home early and wanted me home right away. So now that I had time, I was going to see her to tell her about my dad.

"Malinda, are you here?" I call out to her.

"Yeah I'm upstairs Gaitlyn!" She yells back to me.

I start to walk up the stairs to see her rummaging through Marinas room.

"What are you doing up here?" I ask her as she turns around to look at me. Then goes back to rummaging.

"Marinas grandmother gave her a necklace and I wanted to see if she left it here. So what do you have to say about your dad? I assume that's why your here." She says.

"He knows about them. He doesn't know where they are or how to get to them but he knows and he's not going to stop the crazyness until he gets them." I say and Malinda drops the vase that was in her hands, making it shatter.

"So, we have to warn Marina and fast. They aren't safe down there if what your telling me is true." She grits through her teeth. I could tell that she was angry. She was angry that a father would actually consider going after a family, even if they were supernatural.

"Do you want to talk to Nic's mom again? 'Cause if you do it would be best if you do it, I don't think she likes me very much." I tell her. She looks at me for a second, confused I think, then too the ocean that is in her back yard.

"Yeah, I'll go and talk to her. I guess it would be nice to talk to her again." She says walking out the door to the back yard.

"We are almost there; are you sure that she will be willing to do this?" Nic asks me for the millionth time since we had left the palace.

"Yes I'm sure Nic and if she's not then there will be a fairly good reason behind it I'm sure." I say as we come up to my back yard. This was the first time that I had been here since the day I made the choice to come and live with Nic and his family, it looks the same but yet so different.

I was aware that I wasn't suppose to be here. I never told Nic that his mother said that we would need to go to the caves and that we weren't allowed out of the water. I just didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see my mom and I would take the punishment later.

"Marina, is that you?" My mom asks me.

"Yeah, yeah it's me mom." I say to her coming out of the water and losing my tail. I wasn't even supose to be here, let alone out of the water but seein my mom made me not care all that much. I could deal with the punishment later on.

"Why are you here?" She asks as we hug each other for what seemed like forever.

"I came to ask Gaitlyn something, why are you going into the water?"

"I wanted to talk to Nic's mom. You do know that there is someone after you guys right?" She asks me.

"I know that there is someone after us. Gaitlyn, I have to tell you something and I'm sure that you aren't going to like it very much. Oceania told me that one way for your dad to stop hunting us would be for you to become one of us. She said that Posyden would reason with your father but, you have to come with us." To say that Gaitlyn was surprised was an understatement, her jaw looked like it dislocated or something.

"Is she nuts? How would that solve anything?" She says, babbling on and on.

"I am not sure. I will say that Posyden is a very good convencer so i wouldn't worry all that much." I say to. "It's up to you though but, Oceania and Posyden aren't all that thrilled that you know about us so either it's the ocean or..." I let it hang, the look on her face telling me that she knew what would happen.

"She was alright with me knowing a few days ago though; what changed her mind?" She asks me.

"The fact that your father is hunting us is what changed her mind. She doesn't want him to find us. I'm not sure how turning you into one of us is going to help so don't as me." I say to her.

"I'll have to talk to him Marina, I can't just up and leave him like that." She says walking away from us.

I try to go after her but Nic keeps me in my spot. I turn to look at him, "Why are you doing that?" I ask him.

"She needs time to think. Plus, we aren't suppose to be here anyway and we need to leave, now." He says to me. I would never understand how he could just know that I was doing something I wasn't suppose to be doing.

"Fine, bye mom, I love you." I say hugging her tightly. She hugs be back just as tightly and let's me go after what seemes like forever.

"I love you Marina." She says, shooing me off towards Nic.

"How did you know we weren't suppose to be here?" I ask him as we swim back home.

"The look on your face when we showed up to your moms house is how I knew. I won't tell if you won't." He says holding up his pinky. I wrapp my pinky around his and kiss it.

When we arrived back at the palace, Oceania asked what Gatlyin had decided, she wasn't to happy with the answer.
