Choice

When those words came out of my mouth, I had never felt better. I knew that I wouldn't be able to see my mother or any of my family ever again, but I also knew that this is what they would want for me.

"Marina, I'm going to miss you." My mother tells me while giving me a hug, that could possibly break bones, just saying.

"Don't do that mom, please, I don't want to see you cry." I tell her letting tears spill freely from my eyes. I knew that this wasn't going to be easy but I didn't like to see the people I love cry.

"I'm sorry sweetie but..." She didn't finish the sentence before she busted out into tears. I hugged her as  tight as I could then walked over to Nic. I looked up into his beautiful blue eyes, wanting to just get this over with so that I could be with him finally.

"I love you mom, you know that right?" I ask her.

"Yes sweetheart I know you love me. Now, you two need to go before I make her change her mind Nic." She says with a smile on her face and tears flowing. Nic nods to my mom then takes my hand to lead me to the ocean.

I lead her down to the sea, knowing that this choice was hard on her, and her mother.

"Malinda, thank you for everything. I will take care of her, I promise you this." I say to her mother. She runs down the beach and gives us both one last good-bye hug and a kiss. She pulls away looking at her little girl for the last time.

"Are you ready?" I ask her. She looks up at me, with love and excitement clear in her eyes, and nods to me. I bend down to give her a kiss on the cheek, then her lips. I walk her to the shore of the ocean, and kiss her lips one more time. She starts to change into the most beautiful creature I have ever laid my eyes on.

My body goes into the air and I start to change. It was just like my dream had been, my tail, then my hair became long and added ocean blue highlights. After it was all done, I dove into the water squealing like a little girl.

"This is amazing!" I yell jumping back up out of the ocean to do a front flip.

"I take it that you are happy then." Nic says with a sinker in his voice.

"That is an understatement, I have never felt so free in my life Nic. Are you  going to come in?" I ask him. He just stares at me with a blank look in his eyes.

"I was enjoying seeing you happy. You may want to avert your eyes, I don't think you can take all of my sexiness at one time." He says to me. I splash him with some water, then he grows his tail. He was right, he was sexy as hell. This boy, man, whatever had abs that put Kellen Luts to shame. I smile at him knowing that he was all mine and that no one could take this beautiful man away from me.

"I told you that you couldn't handle all of this at once." He says busting out in laughter.

"HA, you ain't all that." I say, trying to be as serious as I can.

"Then why is your mouth hanging wide open?" I look at him with an evil glare, then we both bust out laughing. He takes my hand and starts to lead me to my new home.

I was pacing back and fourth wanting my son to get her so that I could go to sleep. His father and I had been waiting in the castle for what had seemed like ages.

"Oceania, my dear please stop pacing you are giving me whip-lash." My husband tells me.

"Look here, I do not care. My little boy is up there where I can not protect him and I don't like it Posyden!" I yell at him. I haven't trusted humans for a very long time now. Yes, I was one but fishermen killed one of my babies.

*flashback*

"Mommy! Look at what I can do!" My little Syrina called to me. We were in the caves letting the girls play with the fish. This had always been a secret place for mermaids only.

"I see that." I said with a smile on my face.

We never heard the boat or had a warning from the sea gulls. They came in, and I couldn't reach her in time. Posyden yanked me back, knowing that I wouldn't have been able to save our child. I could hear her screaming for hours till the air fell silent with a gun shot.

*end of flashback*

After that day, I never had anything to do with humans. I did not blame all of them because I knew that not all humans were heartless like those men were, but it was hard for me to trust any of them when it came to my children.

"My dear, I know why you are worrying, but Nic is strong and he has his syren with him, he won't let anything happen to her." He was telling the truth, but it didn't help my nerves.

I heard the trumpets, "Announcing Price Nicadimus and his syren Marina."

"Oh thank Triton. Lets go meet her." I say to Posyden, pulling him with me.
