"Marina, marina WAKE UP!" Nic yells into my ear.

I jump at the sound and end up punching him square in the nose.

"Oh god, I would say I'm sorry but, I'm not." I say to him.

"I'm pretty sure you just broke my nose woman! Why did you punch me?!" He yells and swims into the mirror room. I was laughing to myself as he kept grumbling about his nose.

"I've told you not to yell at me to wake me up. I warned you what would happen and you didn't believe me." I retorted.

Today was the day, I would be meeting my best friends syren. Apparently it was custom that if part of the royal family knew the syren of a friend the member had to meet them first. So today, I would be meeting Mariner.

A few days after Posyden told me not to interfere, to not go and tell Gatlyin about Mariner, he told be about the custom. He also said that in all honesty he had forgotten all about it until Oceania reminded him.

Nic told me all about him last night, about the kingdom that he was helping to rule, about how he was strong so he could protect Gatlyin, sweet and also he and Nic were very close.

I was extremely glad that Gatlyin was going to have someone, she needed somebody to be there for her since lord knew her dad was a dead beat.

He swims back into our room, his nose had stopped bleeding but it looked swollen.

"Let me get ready, you might want your mom to look at that, I think I might have actually broken your nose love." I kiss him on the cheek careful to avoid the injury I caused.

I swim into the room he just came out of to straighten out my bed head. I gather up my blonde hair, twirl it into a bun and stick some pearls into it to tie it back. I grab some blue pearls and put the into my ears and around my neck so that all of my accessories match, icy blue with the snow white to match my tail and hair. Yes I know, this is Gatlyin's syren but I wanted to make an impression on him as well.

~in the throne room~

"Oh my dear, you look absolutely beautiful." Oceania embrasses me in a huge hug. Posyden nods in agreement to his wife.

I swim over to Nic, "so did she look at it? Is it broken?" I ask about his nose.

"Yes, you broke my nose and now you have to make up for it." I nod to him, see as mermaids, we heal faster than people. His nose was already straightening up but I would still make it up to him.

"It's time, are you ready for this Marina?" Oceania asks me, I nod. I was as ready as I would ever be.

The reason this was done, if I didn't approve of Mariner, he couldn't go to Gatlyin. He would never meet her and the bond would be broken. He would remember her and all the feeling he had but Gatlyin would be unfased about it.

"Alright, Shimmer get next to your brother and sister, act like your suppose to young lady." She scolds the youngest because she was goofing off with a clam. "Where is Kita, Posyden where is your daughter?" She raises her voice at him.

"Why is she my daughter when she has done something wrong?" He questions. While they were blabbering, Kita sneaks pass and assumes her posistion between Nic and Shimmer. The order was to go oldest to youngest with any syrens on the right hand of the royal family member. They were still arguing, not even noticing that she had snuck in until the guards started to announce Mariners appearance.

"Now entering Mariner, prince of the northern sea kingdom, nephew of our king Posyden, cousin to Nicadimus, cousin to Kita, cousin to Shimmer, and syren to Gatlyin, friend of princess Marina." He announces in a loud, booming voice.

We watch as he swims in gracefully, stopping to bow to Oceania and Posyden then to Nic, Kita, and Shimmer and then he swims up to me.

He looks into my eyes, bows, takes one of my hands in his as I place my other on his face.

Nic had told me that when a royal done this, they could see a mermaids true nature, what kind of person they truly were.

I keep my hand there for what seemed like hours when in reality in was seconds.

"Do you approve of me my princess?" He asks me in a quiet voice, head still bowed so it came out muffled.
