VERITY'S SLOW FOOTSTEPS RESOUNDEDIN BILL'S GARAGE. The cluster of kids had settled on crates as they stared at a map Bill had plastered on his wall, illuminated by the projector. Mike's fingers curled around the edge of the garage door before he brought it down with ease. The illuminated map grew brighter, the glow reflecting off the kids' solemn expressions.
As Verity stepped forward, Eddie patted the spot on the crate aside him with a paltry smile, offering a spot for her to sit. Returning the smile, the girl sat down, her eyes glued to the map glued in front of them.
Bill positioned himself behind the projector, standing amidst the cluster of all of them. His arm reached forward, pointing to a specific spot on the map, which just so happened to be the storm drain located near his house. "Th-that's where G-G-Georgie disappeared, there's the Ironworks, and the Black Spot. Everywhere IT happens, it's all connected by the sewers, and they all meet up at the-"
"Well-house," Ben's voice cut in, and all the pieces of the puzzle gradually came together. Everything had fell into place, and they all began to understand. After their discussion at the parade, the Losers had confided in each other as they spilled derived details about their unfortunate and unforgettable encounters with IT.
"You mean the house on Neibolt Street," Stan told them.
Richie looked around him, eyeing his friends' faces, scrunched in fear. "You mean the creepy-ass house where all the junkies and hobos like to sleep?"
Then, Beverly spoke up, "I hate that place. Always feel like it's watching me."
Eddie retrieved his inhaler, drawing in heavy breaths of air as his throat contrived and his hands grew increasingly clammy. "That's where I saw IT. There I saw a clown." Despite their clammy hands, Verity intertwined them, rubbing small circles on the sole of Eddie's hand, easing his angst. The boy peered aside him, releasing the inhaler as his eyes then slowly traveled down to the linked hands. A smile crossed his features, complimenting his amber eyes and the freckles delicately grazing his cheeks and the bridge of his comely nose.
"Tha-tha-tha-that's where IT lives," Bill confirmed, swallowing hard.
"I can't imagine anything ever wanting to live there."
Their words had drawn away Eddie's ease just as quick as it had came, and his hand broke away from Verity's, the warmth departing and being replaced by a frigid encasement. The frenzied boy reacquired his inhaler, attaining several pumps of air as he spoke between heavy breaths.
