Swallowing My Darkness

Ah, Depression my old friend you have come back to me

Your dark hand strokes my face

Whispering things in my ear

Words that cause my eyes to burn.

Darkness, oh gentle Darkness,

Why have you shown your ugly face once again?

Has it been how I have been feeling?

My love life?

The way I call your name at night when your voice keeps me awake?

I must know,

What is it that keeps you coming back?

My hands shake as my heart pounds against my rips

It feels like a bruise will form from how hard it is hitting me.

This year is a time for a start over,

Will you be the friend I know you are and slip away once again

Only until you need me to remember something from years before

It shakes it's head no as I speak freely

Weakness

So much weakness

I am to blame.

I am forever bound,

It never lets me forget.

Darkness can give me my happiness

Or

Take it away from me as it pleases.

Until then, sleep well my friend

My body is your home,

My soul the bed you lay your body down,

My mind you play games with,

My emotions are the strings, I am your puppet.

You are my reminder,

I will never be fully happy.
