I loved you mike

I sat there pressing my ear on the keyhole. All I could hear were muffled voices of dad and Mike but however keen I tried to tune my auditory senses,I pathetically failed to decipher what they spoke. May be my eaves dropping skills really did suck . Suddenly the door flunged open making me fall head over heels, nearly hitting my head on Mike's leg. On the floor I sat, shooting dad and Mike an embarrassed blatant stare.

Dad cleared his throat, "This gentleman wants to speak something to you, we will give you the desired privacy "said dad directing us to living and closed the door behind us.
I nudged Mike and enquired"what is up Mikeeey?"

"I came here today to ask you if you would like to move in with me. I know my parents were harsh towards you,they have been insensitive so I had decided to move out.I can't tolerate anyone treating you bad Elle, let it be my parents. I got an internship with a scholarship which provides me a fair remuneration and it will be adequate to pay our bills. I had it all planned, I dreamt for this moment for years but"his lovely face fell.

"your dad told me a rich cousin of yours loves you and you have signed an agreement that you would marry him. It's insane where in the world has this agreement sprouted from. Tell me Elle, tell me you don't love that rich cousin of yours. We can fight him off, tell me you don't love him, tell me your dad was wrong "he begged with pleading eyes.
I looked down in remorse .My heart already weighted a ton out of guilt.

The storm was blowing outside, the rumbling noise heaved in my ears. Perhaps the turmoil of my heart remained more aggressive and menacing.

"Elena" he said with a deep penetrating glare "I love you".The pain in his eyes seeped into my heart like a piercing dagger tattering it in shreds

Mike the hottest guy in school confessed his feelings for me but I stood there startled unable to utter a single word.Tears rushed down my cheeks.

"tell me you love me too"he said. Tears had already welled up his eyes too. "Elena I loved you since the day we first met, I never knew your family struggled until recently.You have always hid your sorrows in the canopy of your smile. I stole glances of you in class, in chemistry lab I used the opportunity to touch you in the pretext of volunteering to help. I loved you, for being yourself. For not trying to get impress anyone, for not flirting with anyone. You made me desire to break rules. You made me feel insecure, you made feel jealous for the maiden time in my life. I tried to make you jealous by flirting with everyone but all you gave me was your big broad smile. "

"I loved you when Jammy tripped you and made you fall.it was the first time I saw you a tiny thing with a tensed face and a confused demeanour. You were innocent and obviously stupid. Remember Jammy had a bloody nose the next day I gifted him it. I never got an opportunity to be around you until the ball. "

"you are the only thing I ever desired and I desperately craved to win over your feelings. But Iost, I lost" he said with his gaze locked into mine.
The sadness embodied the fine features .He ran his fingers through his golden blond locks.

He walked away staring into the wide expanse through the open window ,the starless night sky greeted us. He motioned me to come near him. I adhered standing by him gazing at the sky. How I wished to lean on his broad shoulders ?
But courage denied me the opportunity.I nay have the grit. The silent sky smiled at us, as either of our hearts wept in dismay.
We stared into the expanse. I felt his hands tightening around mine. I can sense the hidden emotions of that whirlwind beneath the calmness of his skin which glistened in moonlight. He was flawless with a tight jawline, brilliant eyes, blond hair and a stunning physique.I held his hand in mine and gazed at the moonlit walk. The storm had ceased, now the dank breeze rustled the leaves swirling it in tiny icicles in the deserted lane. The leaves moved forward.

"do you remember you hate strawberry cupcakes. I stopped eating it.Funny typically right, I know you won't love me back but still....." Silence followed

"it's pointless right now, it's too late. "he said walking away
I nay uttered a single syllable.

Suddenly he came over took my hand in his and said "One fine day or any day if your rich cousin gets tired of you. Ever makes you feel unwanted you can come over to me. I will be waiting for you. Don't think twice, my arms will be streched open to embrace you. You will be the only girl I will ever love.If your rich cousin, he is indeed a lucky man."he sighed
"If he ever raises his voice against you, I think you know where to find me"he said .
"I will love you Elle forever"he said caressing my hair and planted a kiss on my forehead and walked away.His hands lingered in my hair. It was already dawn. "good bye my candy " he said as his eyes brimmed with tears. He smiled a plastered fake smile and moved away.

I wanted to run up to him grab him and kiss him. But I stood there staring blank appearing nothing less than an arse when his car left our driveway. Suddenly as his car moved realisation struck me. I started running out suddenly mom holded me back. I need to go.
"let him go"she said.

But now I realised I too loved him.
Only if he told me before..... "mom... Mike... "I wept.
"let him leave, with you by his side he will lose his parents and he will be burdened by responsibility. But if not Allan Hawthorne had intervened in your life Elle. I would not have thought twice to send you with him. That intense love is rare.the look in his eyes was genuine"she said. I sobbed yelling his name ....

Mike.... I did love you.
