We drove up to Alex's company in Ryan's car, considering I didn't drive. By the time we got there I was bursting for the toilet so I told them to go straight up and I would meet them there.
"Hi, excuse me, sorry where are the toilets?" I asked a woman on reception.
"If you just follow this hallway around here it will be the first door on your left hun" She said pointing me in the right direction.
I emptied my bladder and did a quick once over in the mirror to check whether I looked okay for the ball, it was hard finding a dress that fit so its not exactly fancy.
The elevator doors were open so I attempted to run for them and just as I thought they were about to close a woman stopped them from closing.
"Oh thank you so much" I said as I entered in.
"No worries sweet heart" She smiled.
She was a middle aged woman in her forties I'm guessing, she looked very formal, but too formal to be working in a company like Zinc.
"Sorry you don't have to answer if you don't want but do you work here?"
"No I don't, I do weddings and someone has hired me to do there wedding today here so that's my story" She said flashing me a smile.
"Oh" I laughed.
"And if you don't mind me commenting that you look too dressed up to be coming to work, and I'm guessing almost ready to pop?"
"Oh you see my fiancé owns this company and there is a charity ball tonight and he asked me to come with him so that's why I look like I'm ready to attend a wedding" I said giggling at the connection to her job and my statement.
The doors opened signalling that I was at my floor.
"Bye thanks again for keeping the door open, enjoy your wedding" I smiled as I left.
I walked over to Alex's office and Jess was stood there alone.
"God Mollie what took you so long?" She asked with an eye roll.
"I'm 8 months pregnant sorry if it takes me a while to do anything" I replied sarcastically.
"Well Alex is showing Ryan something on the roof, he said that I should wait here for you and take you up if they weren't already back down, so come on up to the roof we go" She said grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the elevator.
"Why do I feel like your acting really strange?" I searched her face for any sign of lies.
"God I knew pregnancy gave you hormones but I didn't know it came with paranoia, we can wait for them downstairs if you want?"
"No I believe you" I mumbled.
The elevator arrived at the final floor, we both stepped out and there was like 30 stairs to go up before you were on the roof. Jess began running up them leaving me to slowly make my way up.
"Your too slow so I will see you on the roof" She shouted down at me.
"How many times do I have to tell you that it isn't my fault! Blame Alex not me" I shouted back at her but she was already on the roof.
I made it to the top of the stairs and there was a few small mumbles coming from the other side of the door. I slowly pushed it open, Perfect by Ed Sheeran began playing, I looked up from the door handle and my jaw dropped.
Everyone stood up and turned to look at me. I looked around unsure of what was going on. There at the front was Alex wearing his tux looking sexy as ever and beside him was the woman from the elevator- that's when the penny dropped.... We're getting married.
I made my way to the front where Alex was, I stood beside him and he held my hands in his.
"Surprise baby" He whispered.
"I cant believe you did this for me"
"I would do anything for you"
"And I really don't know how you managed to pull all of this off without me even having the slightest clue"
"Let's get married shall we?"
We finished whispering and Alex looked towards the lady to signal that we were ready.
"Ladies and gentlemen, We are gathered here today to witness the love shared between Mollie and Alex. If there is anyone here that objects to these two sharing the rest of there lives together in holy matrimony please speak up now or forever hold your peace"
No-one objected which made me smile.
"Okay well phew that's one of my many worries over" She said causing us to laugh.
"Right so now were moving onto the ring exchange and the vows, so whoever has the rings may you please step forward".
An elderly man stepped forward, I felt like I had seen this man before but I couldn't put my finger on where it was from. He held the rings out and Alex took one, it was a beautiful ring.
"Alex do you take Mollie to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part"
He looked so happy, his smile was the widest thing I had ever seen, I knew in this moment that this was the start of the rest of my life.
"I do"
"And do you Mollie take Alex, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part"
"I do"
"Well in that case I'm proud to announce Mr and Mrs Barton! You may now kiss the bride".
Everyone erupted into loud cheers and awes. Alex kissed me like his life depended on it, and I've never felt happier. We walked out through the middle of all the people and Alex directed me into another room, the venue for our wedding party. It must have taken him ages because it was stunning. We sat down in the seats he had prepared for us. The rest of the guests slowly began to fill up the room finding there designated seats.
