"CHRIS!" He didn't die so that's good. He barely got hit. He teleported to Manon's shadow before it actually hit him. The man owning the shadow he was in though... wasn't that lucky. He took physical form and froze when she hugged him.

"Um... Manon?"

"If you had died I would have killed you you idiot! Are you okay? No pain or anything?" He rolled his eyes at her genuine concern.

"Glad to see you care so much but I'm not the one you should be worried about." He glanced at the man who had been hit.

"Is he alive?"

"How am I supposed to know?"

"You didn't distract him or anything, did you? I mean, you were his shadow so he might've-"

"Manon."

"Okay! Can... can we save-"

"Would you shut up? I'm trying to think here. Sorry." He grabbed her arm and teleported to the man. He grabbed the man and teleported to the best hospital in Paris. "Um, can we get some help here?" The nurse walked past him. "Uh... excuse me?" The doctor did as well. He scowled.

"THERE IS A DYING MAN IN THIS MAN'S ARMS PEOPLE! HELP!" That definitely caught their attention. They got swarmed and soon enough the guy was being rushed to the emergency room. Shadow paced up and down, messing with the hood of his cloak. Everyone avoided them. They were villains after all. Villains who saved a life. He sighed and grabbed a nurse.

"Um... is he going to be okay? The guy that was just rushed in?" She was so tired she didn't even look up.

"Are you his son? A relative maybe?"

"Um... passersby?" She finally looked up and gasped in shock.

"Oh, uh... Shadow Man, Puppeteer. I'm- I mean he's we- you- er... I-"

"Yeah, yeah, you're completely terrified, moving on, how is he?" His bluntness seemed to calm her down for some reason.

"It took some effort but he pulled through. He's alive. Unstable but alive. A few minutes later and... well... You know."

"How much does it all cost?" She told him. Manon took in a sharp breath. He just shrugged. "I'll get that amount to you soon. Puppeteer?" She held his hand. They teleported to his room. He grabbed his cheque book from his bag and scribbled in it before tearing out a sheet. She gaped.

"You have your own personal cheque book?"

"As you can see, I don't use it much." He held it up for her to see how full it was. They were about to leave when Nino walked into the room. Shadow held her closer, making her figureless as well.

"Come back little man. I'm sorry for being a huge butthead. At least Maurice was there. I'm sorry I failed you like this." Chris couldn't stop himself.

"Failed me? I can't believe you compared yourself to that butthead right now Mama. Fuc-"

"Language."

"Fudge him then." Nino chuckled before he realised it might actually have been Chris.

"Chris? Chris, is that..." He looked around the room and chuckled. "I must be going nuts. I actually thought you were... But you're not. You're not." Alya walked in, sat next to him and gave his hand a tight squeeze.

"He'll be back. I know it hurts now and maybe you feel like he won't come back and maybe you're scared I dunno it's been a while since I last saw you and I don't know if I know you anymore... what if I don't. What if-" he kissed her. Chris rolled his eyes. "You've been waiting to do that for a while now, haven't you." He shrugged, smirking.

"Yep."

"YOU LITTLE-" he pressed his lips against her ear.

"Let's go. They aren't gonna stop snogging till thy kingdom come." She shut her eyes for a second. He took them back to the hospital.

"Please don't ever do that to me again. Messing with my head like that."

"Do what?"

"Oh... nothing." He plopped down and sighed.

"Can't believe he actually compared himself to Maurice."

"Maurice?"

"Um... my dad. Worthless little shi-"

"Dude!"

"Yeah, yeah."

"Your brother really misses you, you know? I could hear the sorrow in his voice." He winced.

"Thanks for pointing out the obvious."

"My point is, maybe we should think of... going back. Can't be viallins forever." He pouted.

"But I wanna!"

"I know little one, I know." He glared at her. She shrugged.

"Um... Shadow Man, Puppeteer?"

"You've known us long enough. You can call me Manon."

"Yeah, you may not be one for formalities but I am."

"Be nice."

"Shadow. See, I'm nice."

"Uh... Manon and Shadow. He's awake and his whole family-" he groaned. "Uh... They want to say thanks I guess."

"No."

"But-"

"Shadow, they just want to say thank you. And you're gonna accept right?"

"Again. No."

"Please Chris?"

"Don't test me woman. I said no." She shrugged and used her puppy dog eyes.

"Please?"

"What the- they still work? Really? Ugh. Thirty seconds."

"What?! Two minutes!"

"One."

"...deal." one agonising minute to Chris or one cute minute of thank yous, hugs and Chris blushing and mumbling you're welcomes under his breath.

"You are such an adorable dork."

"I... I still..."

"You still hate me, I get it. How does it feel to be responsible for the continuation the life of a disgusting homo sapien?" He shrugged.

"Like a million bucks. Minus a million. Kidding, kidding. It felt... Okay I guess."

"Good enough. See you tomorrow then?"

"Yep."
