"Come on, Catherine! There's a whole universe outside those doors waiting to be explored and you're primping!" The Doctor called. I decided that, since my life didn't fit into one time period anymore, that it was time for a new look, clothing wise. I'd been trying on outfits for twenty minutes until I found what suited me. I lost the newspaper cap and let my hair fall down around my shoulders. I decided to hold onto the jacket, just to hang on to a piece of my culture, and a light blue skirt, with white converse. I saw the Doctor's and I liked them, so I went with it. I also took a pair of scissors to my hair. Apparently, my time lord self preferred it.
"I'm coming! I swear, all of time and space at your disposal, and you're the most impatient man I've ever met." I walked into the console room. Martha was sitting on the jump seat, and the Doctor was pacing around the console. I am a time lord, so upon first entering the TARDIS, my first reaction wasn't to be astounded by how it's bigger on the inside, much to the Doctor's disappointment.
"I'm sure you look..." His eyes fell on me and he trailed off.
"What?" I looked down at my outfit. "Is it bad?"
"Quite the opposite! You look stunning! And you've cut your hair!" Martha exclaimed. "You've rendered him speechless! That never happens." I shot the Doctor a small smile, and he snapped out of his revere.
"What do you say ladies...do you fancy another planet?" I smiled.
"Can we go to yours?" I looked to the Doctor as his smile fell.
"Ah, there's plenty of other places."
"Come on though, I mean, planet of the Time Lords. That's got to be worth a look. What's it like?" She asked, getting up and standing beside him at the console.
"It's beautiful, yeah." I hadn't known the Doctor for very long, but it was obvious to me that Gallifrey was a touchy subject for him. I understand why.
"Is it like, you know, outer space cities, all spires and stuff?" She asked.
"Actually...yeah." I confirmed.
"Great big temples and cathedrals?"
"Yeah." He kept his eyes on the console, the normal color of his voice gone.
"Lot's of planets in the sky?"
"The sky is burnt orange..." I recall, "with the citadel enclosed in a gigantic, might glass dome, which shines underneath the twin suns."
"Beyond that, the mountains go on forever," The Doctor chimed in, his voice alive again, "Slopes of deep red grass, capped with snow."
"Can we go there?" Martha asked, amazed.
"Nah, where's the phone for Catherine and I! I don't know about you, but I don't want to go home. Besides, this trip is much better, the year is five billion and fifty-three, planet New Earth!" He pulled his coat on. "Second home of mankind. Fifty-thousand light years from your old world, and we're slap bang in the middle of New New York."
