Six months I've been in a coma.
I've been drifting in and out of hearing consciousness. Hearing while unconscious because I didn't open my eyes once. At odd times my ears would wake up, and I'd hear Zoe or Luke by me.
Now me being a genius (tell Psyche I am.) I was able to gather that I was, obviously, in a coma and that I was in a hospital. Hades was silent which meant he was dying. Mini me, inside my head, traveled to visit Hades weekly. He was ignoring me because I caused this. Hey, when my psychotic ex made Zoe stab me I had to do something. In retrospect I probably wasn't the hero and should've stayed out of it. So listen up bad boys, never save yourself because then your personal god will hate you and you'll lose a part of your life. Unless your Percy Jackson that's not okay.
I felt hands lift me and put me down on a sofa, my eyes still close. It felt weird that somebody was touching me, and I couldn't even punch their lights out. Okay maybe that's temperamental but hey I miss punching people.
After ten minutes my nose started working, and it had a stupid itch and I couldn't scratch it or move it. I sighed."Psyche, be my friend and scratch my nose please?"
I heard her gasp at my first words after six months. How did I knew how long I was out? Still a genius people.
Her arms glided up mine and squeezed my cheeks. "You had me so worried. I thought you were going to die."
I gave her a smirk "I knew you'd miss this smile."
She rolled her eyes.
"Right, we know who really is special." I gave her a small laugh and winced when I shifted. I grabbed her hand that was still on my cheek. "Happy birthday Psyche."
She pulled her hand out of mine and touched her chest as if she was hurt. "Jake Thales, please tell me the date of today?"
"The 12th of January." I responded immediately but then I was wincing when she slapped me.
"Today's the sixth, Jake." Wow, ten minutes awake, and I already made her mad.
She turned to walk out, but I grabbed her hand, not caring that my insides were screaming from the scar the knife left. It still hasn't healed, but I didn't care as I pulled her onto my lap. She probably would've jumped off immediately, and I would've been too weak to stop her, but she didn't because she slapped me again.
"That just makes me the first to say it."
"And the last, idiot." She replied immediately. I wrapped my weak arms around her waist, and she didn't protest, not yet anyways.
"You still love me." I reminded here.
"But you love me more." That is true. I laughed, and she laughed with me before getting off my lap.
"What do you want for your birthday?" I asked her. She sighed and sat down again then smirked at me. It isn't every day a girl knows how special she is. She just didn't know how special she was for me.
"Surprise me." She said.
"How about I write about you on wattpad?" I asked. She looked at me and then laughed.
"That chapter at least needs to be a thousand words long to explain a bit of me." she gloated. I rolled my eyes.
"You know it's not exactly beautiful when you gloat so." I stated. This time she rolled her eyes.
"If you have it, flaunt it."
"Jeez, you make me want to die."
"You'd miss me too much."
"Why?"
"Z"
"Z?"
"You don't get it?" she asked blankly. I shook my head and she started forward till her face was millimeters from mine. Before she kissed me though (because I knew you were thinking that) she said. "Your brain is dysfunctional."
"Only around you, Psyche." I said rather smoothly. I could just feel her eyes rolling. "What does it mean anyways?" I asked.
She laughed. "Y Z, get it?"
Realization dawned on me and my anger peaked. "Oh, what kind of normal person would get that?"
She rolled her eyes. She seemed to do that a lot in my presence.
I sank in my chair and for the first time gazed around the room other than Psyche. It was so beautiful for a hospital room. The entire left wall was a window and the setting sun shone through it, making the room golden. My bed was to my left where I spent six months.
Psyche grabbed my hand (she also does that a lot). "You're an idiot; you know that?"
And me being the idiot I am, I nodded.
I can't believe you nodded, Hades said in my head.
You aren't mad at me anymore? I asked him.
I'll forgive you when you get Persephone back, He said angrily.
Give this to her. He extended his hand, handing me a black box.
When my eyes opened, the box was in my hands. Psyche's eyes grew big.
"I know it looks exactly like 'that' one," I started quickly, knowing what she was thinking. ", there isn't deadly sleep in there. Just open it, please." I begged her.
She grabbed the box and slowly opened it.
