Epilogue
Death's P. O. V
Twenty hours, that's all it took to go home. I drove in the car with Zoe and the others, behind the driver seat continuously looking out the window. The Underworld had a hole that led to Tartarus, thats how I felt. In reality my mind was blank, everything in me numb.
We left the farm just after the sun had fallen and drove nonstop, only breaking for everyone else's necessities. I remained still in my seat when they got out for food or for the rest room.
We continued to drive throughout the following day.
At dawn the next day, we arrived. The horizon still dark, barely even light, just waiting for something bright to make its day. I was fairly aware of the awkward silence and worried glances that I was getting from the others. I slipped into the shadows wanting to avoid my gang members.
I loved my building. The building shifted to people's desires, their rooms reflecting them. The top floor was two rooms the last time I was here but now my room was the only one on the floor. The entire left wall (about 20 meters) was made of windows. Two windows, in particular, were doors leading onto the new balcony.
A silent knock sounded and the person let themselves in. I opened the doors and stepped onto the balcony. A small breeze blew through the dawn, but I was too numbed to feel it. An arm settled around my waist and hugged me.
Something changed in that moment. I brought the girl in front of me. Zoe stood, back against my chest. Her heart beating steadily.
"I guess it is something losing your girlfriend to hell." She finally said breaking the silence.
"Yeah it is." I replied quietly. I put my hands around her waist, and she turned to look at me.
"You were bad as§ out there." she commented. I looked down at her. Now or never.
"I'm sorry for you know," I couldn't even say her name. ",I was just so mad after seeing Michael almost kissed you-"
She shut me up with a finger on my mouth.
"So you got mad and made a hole in the city, destroyed a couple of buildings and ruined your queen, but you were still you when you got back. When you were on the edge, I saw something that I never thought I would see again." I looked at her confusingly and asked her what she saw.
"I saw just how much you cared for her. You flipping jumped out a six-month coma to look for her but I know you didn't do it out of love. You did it because you knew you hurt her." She explained. I gripped her face tight but not too tightly.
"Do you also know that I love you?" I brought her face 90% closer.
"I think the better question is how are you going to prove it?" She said smugly, moving 5% closer.
"Well I already opened the gates of hell, how about I close them?" I asked her.
"That's a start" And then she moved the last 5% her sweet lips softly capturing mine. We moved in sync, not stopping once for air.
Caitlyn was right, I did need a night. Her lips were in sync with mine, moving fast with an urgency but, somehow, also a gentleness. Something told me that our first kiss was well waited for. I don't know how much she needed this but I knew I needed it as badly as she did. That one long, sweet kiss that probably needs a million words to describe but I'm sure wattpad wouldn't allow that (Would they?). Long after I'd run out of breath, we pulled away. She was just as breathless as me as she turned to watch the sun rise. Her heart, in sync with mine, was racing. Her beautiful hair spread over my hoodie.
"So," I asked. ", can I ship Thayx?"
"Really, Thayx? Thales and Nyx? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."she said in a sassy tone.
"Fine," I could feel her rolling her eyes. ", what would you ship then?"
I felt her massive grin even though I could not see her. She covered her face to hide her blush. I smiled.
"How about Zake?"
Okay, I'll have to admit that does sound better.
How's that for a happy ending. The end of a good book? Thank you for your time.
