Chapter 8: Demons don't cry

Lou's POV::

We'll that was unusual..

Hickory just kissed me.. But the strange thing is...I actually liked it. I know I'm not Soposed to... And I usually don't...but for some reason, this time was different.

It's been approximently 4 days since I was in the hospital. I've been stuck at home with Hickory pampering me. It was quite nice to be perfectly honest. But here I sit, in front of the Telly. Watching some kid show that I don't even know the name of.

"What's a powderpuff girl?" I hear Hickory ask.

Did I forget to mention he's snuggling with me on the couch? Oops.

I'm laying my head on his lap, while were watching this "powerpuff girls" episode. Hickory has been playing with my hair the whole time.

"Did you just say powder-puff girl?" I said giggling.

"Isn't that the name?" Hickory said with confusion.

"No you bum. It's power-puff girl"

I said. Looking up at him with glossy green eyes.

We held a stare longer than usual, but it was nice. His bright blue eyes were fascinating to look at, to focus in on the little golden specks. But then realization hits me. He's a demon. Normal people don't have golden eyes.

Hickory's POV::

It's been an hour or so since I was 'cuddling' with Lou. She's up in her bedroom getting ready for an evening I have planned. I wanted to take her to the little square at the edge of our town. It has a ton of cute little shops that I know she loves.

She waddled down the stairs in a pair of jean shorts and a light jumper. She had loose curls and her iPhone in hand. She looked so beautiful. Even in her little summer outfit.

"Are you ready?" She said. A small blush already creeping onto her face.

"Yep lemme grab my wallet" I said smiling at her.

I grabbed my wallet and stuffed it in my back pocket.

I grabbed Lou's hand and we walked out the door.

Standing outside I touched her nose, and started to make us hover... Just for the sake of keeping our strength up for the square.

Instead of holding my hand she scooted closer and grabbed onto my hips, burying her face in my neck.

She really doesn't like heights....

Forgot about that...

I moved as quickly as possible, holding Lou close as we flew silently.

A few moments later we were in the square. Lou was still clutched to my chest as we landed.

"Your okay Lou." I said gently stroking her soft cheek.

She pulled her face out of the crook in my neck and smiled.

"You know I hate flying" she murmured.

"Yeh, we'll we don't have a car so you can deal" I said wrapping our fingers together.

Lou's POV::

We've been out at the square for an hour now, I've been in and out of shops plenty of times. Hickory knows I love little shops like these.

Within the hour I already have three bags of little treasures I've picked up.

I carefully pull out my phone to check the time. 7:48. Great.

"I'm hungry" I half lied to Hickory.

"We'll I think there's a little place around the corner.. We could get some tea and a grilled cheese" he mumbled.

"That sounds good." I said smiling at his dimples.

The little place was right around the corner, I think it was called "Golden Eats" but I can't really remember.

We waltzed right in and say at a small booth In the corner.

A small little waitress came over to us, she looked to be about 40. She was short, with brown/grey hair and pretty brown eyes.

"How are you tonight?" She said with a cheeky little smile.

"Were good thank you!" I said returning the smile.

"We'll what can I get for ya tonight?" She asked looking at the two of us.

Hickory just beamed at me, so I ordered for us.

"Two grilled cheese sandwiches and two chocolate milks please"

"Coming right up sunshine!" She said as she walked back into the kitchen.

I turned to Hickory to see him still smiling at me.

"What has you so happy you bum." I said.

"We'll. I have something important to tell you!" He Beamed.

After he said that our cute little waitress came back with our food and chocolate milk.

"Here ya are." She said before waddling off.

I literally inhaled my sandwhich as Hickory just Watched. Almost as if he was admiring me. To be truthful he has been acting strange lately but I haven't been able to put a finger on it.

"Lou." He said.

In response I looked at him.

"We'll the thing I wanted to tell you was..."

"Continue" I mumbled. Looking him in the eyes.

"I think I love you." He finished.

And then, everything was blury.
