The training area was interesting. In one section targets hung on trees, that was where the lost boys practiced archery, knife throwing, and other skills. In another section, bags of sand hung from the trees which were used like punching bags.
All of the lost boys seemed to know exactly where they were going when training began, all filing into their area of choice.
You know that feeling on the first day of school when you have no idea where to sit during lunch? That was me.
I kind of just stood there for a moment contemplating what I should do next when I heard my name being called. I looked to my left and saw Pan watching me with his armed crossed, a bored look on his face.
"Well, don't just stand there and stare." Pan began to walk away at lightning fast speed, I quickly got the memo and followed. We walked for about ten minutes before arriving at a bare area of dirt around the edge of the forest. We were so close to the beach, I could smell the salty air.
"I meant what I said last night- why didn't you fight back? It looked like you were going to and then you just... stopped. Why is that?"
I was taken a back and paused for a few moments before answering, "I... I just... I just couldn't."
"That's not a good enough answer." Pan looked at me with scrunched eyebrows, trying to see past my eyes, trying to see my thoughts.
Suddenly he let out a sigh before looking away then turning back to me.
"I'm going to teach you how to fight."
I couldn't stop myself from talking back, "Why? Why do I need to know how to fight?"
Pan suddenly walked forward so that we were only inches apart, and talked in a hushed voice.
"Well, frankly love, these boys haven't seen a girl in... well, years. If I were you I would want to know how to defend myself."
Pans eyes were green, how were they so green? It was as if the world had captured the most lush of forests and the strongest of storms and bundled them all up inside one boy... one tortured boy.
"Okay." was all I could muster.
Pan stepped back, "Now, lets start with the basics. Punch me."
"What? No!"
" I said punch me Alessia."
"I... I don't want to hurt you."
Pan smirked at me, "Trust me, you won't hurt me. Now punch me."
I let out a sigh before throwing a soft punch at Pan. He stepped back and raised an eyebrow at me.
"That's a sad excuse of a punch. Try again."
A threw another punch, this time harder but Pan easily deflected it.
" Wow, I haven't seen a girl in a while. I guess I really forgot how weak they are."
This pissed me off. I didn't even wait for Pan to tell me to try again, I threw the hardest punch I could straight at his chest. Pan caught my fist right before it hit him and smirked.
"So... you do have some strength. But, you're predictable. You wind up before you swing, you don't need to. Keep your movements conserved, tight, like this-"
Pan threw a mock punch at me in slow motion, keeping his elbows close to his chest and using a small punch to deliver a lot of power.
"Your turn."
.................
We practiced for about an hour, Pan showed me the different ways I could hit someone. I have to admit I was quite proud of myself. Then Pan turned things around.
"Now, I am going to punch you."
"Wha-"
Before I could say anything Pan threw a punch towards me, I remembered the way he had deflected my punches so I did the same to him automatically.
"Good."
Pan kept throwing punches at me and I kept deflecting, it wasn't until he threw one towards my abdomen that I finally grabbed his fist and yanked him towards me. For a moment I was frozen. Pan's face was only inches from mine and he stared at me with a dazed smile before whispering,
"Now push me."
I did as he told and shoved him as far away as I could. We were both breathing hard and Pan looked up at me with a smirk,
"You do have some fight in you."
Then, Pan began to walk away back to camp before shouting over his shoulder,
"We're going to practice fighting everyday, at this time, at this place."
A/N Yooooooooo, how y'all doing? Hope you enjoyed this chapter (Yay more Pan). I took inspiration for the fight scene from Ignite Me by Tahera Mafi (which you guys should totally read). I'm honestly having so much fun writing this so I hope you're liking reading it :) Until next time...
Peace Out!
