Pan walked me out to the edge of the forest, just out of earshot of the other boys. He brought his hand up to the nape of his neck and let it linger there for a moment before meeting my gaze.

"Have you thought about it- about what I said? Do you want to proceed with training?"

His earnestness was scaring me.

I looked down at the brown ground and dug my foot into the dirt. I was wearing black and white vans, the same shoes I was wearing when I was taken. The shoes I wore to school, the shoes I walked home in, the shoes I lived another life in. A life that just never felt right.

I bit the inside of my cheek and took a deep breath, was I going to regret this? Maybe. Did I have anything to lose? No.

I cleared my throat before answering, "Yes" Pan's eyes widened in disbelief. I sighed and looked at him once more, "teach me about magic. "

                                                                            ..........

"Psssss, Alessia!"

I woke up to someone gently shaking my shoulder, and opened my eyes to Pan. His face was only a few inches from mine but he stepped back as soon as my gaze met his.

"Wake up love, it's your first day of training."

As my eyes scanned the area I saw that the other lost boys were still asleep and the sun was just barely rising into the sky.

"Why the hell are we doing this so early?" I cringed at my voice, it was raspy from just waking up. I could only imagine what my hair looked like.

"Because love, I have thirty other boys to train in an hour and I keep a tight schedule. Now come on."

Pan began walking so I reluctantly got out of my hammock and followed him. Within a few minutes we were where we regularly would train for fighting. Pan looked at me with bright eyes, how was he so awake? He took a deep breath and wrapped one hand around the other and looked down.  After a few seconds he brought his eyes up again and looked me in the eyes straight on.

"Magic is all about intention. It's about training the mind, directing your thoughts. You need to think something to make it happen. And it won't happen if you don't believe what you're thinking. You can't simply imagine, you need to create with your mind. "

Sounds easy enough. One problem though-

"How do I even know that magic is real? I've never even seen you do it..."

Pan paused for a moment before advancing towards me. I stumbled back slightly before Pan reached me and grabbed my hand.

"Do you trust me?"

Not really "Yes."

Quickly Pan picked me up bridal style and a green mist began to form around us. The mist got so thick that I couldn't see anything, but soon it cleared and I was met by the ocean. That is, a view of the ocean from hundreds of feet in the air.

My heart stopped for a moment before I screamed.

"Calm down, I've got you. I'm not gonna let you go." I looked up to Pan's face, he looked slightly concerned but somehow calm at the same time. I gripped him harder as I looked down at my possible death.

I manged to speak through hiperventalated breathing,

"H-how are you doing this?"

Pan looked at me and smirked before shrugging,

"magic."

That smug asshole.

"Okay, point taken... please just-" Before I could say anymore the green mist swirled around us and we were back on the forest floor. Pan set me down and I did my best to take a few deep breaths and compose myself.

"W-we just flew, like without a freaking plane." Pan smiled at me lazily before crossing his arms and becoming a bit more serious.

"Trust me love, the real fun hasn't even begun yet."
