I slept with all of the other boys, in the hammocks that were woven out of strong plant fiber, just within the tree line. It was interesting- watching them, seeing the way they behaved, and I couldn't help but wonder what they were like before they came to Neverland. The first two nights were alright and it seemed everything was fine... it was on the third night that everything went wrong.
............
It was the sound of muffled giggling that woke me up. As I opened my eyes I was met with darkness and the smell of burlap. I then noticed that my hands were tied to my waist, and my feet constrained together.
As I became aware of the dire of my situation I began to struggle bit by bit, until I was completely and utterly thrashing around, throwing my weight, trying to writhe out of my constraints. It wasn't until I was able to through off the bag that covered my head that I was met with the faces of the lost boys.
"What the hell is going on?" I was facing the lost boys... but it wasn't just them. I watched as a lurking green figure made his way to the front of the group,
Pan.
He lazily walked up to me, and ever so slowly cut my restraints.
"Now," he began to say with a voice filled with pleasure, "You may have been chosen to come to Neverland, but do you have what it takes to stay?" Pans eyes were dark, and mischief enveloped him. "Boys, what do you think?"
The lost boys, the older ones at least, began to hoot and cheer. I couldn't tell what any of them were saying.
Pan let out a smirk, "Then let's play a game."
I wasn't amused.
"In this game we are the cat, and you are the mouse. We give you a ten minute head start, then game on. The boys are aloud to take whatever means nescessary in order to catch you. Whoever catches you first wins, if no one catches you within twenty minutes, you win."
"What's the prize?" I held no fear in my voice, no emotion.
Pan seemed startled by my question, but responded with a twisted smirk never the less,
"my pride".
It was dead silent except for the sound of my own beating heart.
Pan looked me right in the eyes, challenging me, doubting me. He took a sigh, looked back at the lost boys, and gestured with his hand.
"Begin."
..............
I ran harder then I'd ever run before. I knew that these ten minutes would determine the rest of the game for me.
I had seen the boys. They were beyond fit, and some of them were at least double my size. How could I fight that? So, I needed to outsmart them. So...with nothing else coming to mind, I began to climb. I found the tallest tree I could and just kept going higher and higher until I was at least 20 feet above the ground. I noticed then that I was surrounded by thick dark vines that ran to about 5 feet above the ground. I decided to gather some from a near by tree as I had extra time and no better ideas in mind.
I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I suddenly heard the trampling of feet along the trail. There were three lost boys who I recognized from when Pan introduced me. The first was tall and muscular, with tan skin and dark hair. His name was Alexander. The next short but just as muscular, Aiden. The final boy looked to be around twelve. He was pale and wide eyed, his name was Logan.
I couldn't breathe, I was too afraid they'd find me. They looked around, confusion filled all of their eyes.
"She couldn't of run that far" remarked Alex.
"I doubt she even made it to here." added Aiden.
Logan was quiet and looked around curiously.
I would have been fine if it weren't for the branch I was holding onto with my left hand cracking slightly from all the pressure I was putting on it. That was all it took. Little quiet Logan turned his head in my direction with lighting fast speed, and before I could do anything pointed up at me.
Aiden and Alex noticed me within seconds, and then the chase was on.
They began climbing like i've seen no one climb before. They both were strong and were ascending into the tree about three times as fast as I could.
I couldn't go up, I couldn't go down. I was about to accept defeat when I noticed the bunch of vines that I still held in my hand.
I stood up on the branch and waited. I needed to time this perfectly. It wasn't until Aiden and Alex were only about a foot away from me that I bent my knees as far as I could and flew back into the tree before swinging forwards out and onto the ground. I had gained at least 20 feet of leverage and was about to bolt when I ran into someones chest.
Shit.
A/N: quotd- What is your favorite fanfiction ever? Seriously, I'm always in need of new reading material XD.
Next chapter I'm going to try and develop Alessia's character a bit more, so sorry if that's been a little weak these past few chapters. I really want to establish who she is.
Thanks for reading! See you next chapter :)
