"Well this is more boring than I thought it would be..." she trailed off as she watched me meditate.
"I kind of expected it to be honest..." I replied before blocking her out.
"I get it you can just decide I want to control elements because your weapons are special, you have to understand them," Mikayla replied with a groan.
"Exactly so please allow me to concentrate," I said. I sat there until the wind called to me, I felt it call to my wish for freedom, the part of me that always hated my parents and their expectations. Then I called Gladium to me as the blade was coated in wind and I thrust the wind spiraling in a tornado's shape. I was pulled from my daze but the wind remained in my vision, where I once had to search and meditate it was simpler than ever and answers my call at the slightest call. The same as the water and ice that liked me from the beginning that called to me since I was young. Arcum had explained to me that whilst all would fit water was my natural element, water shifts and adapts. The wind is free and knows all, as the wind hears all and finally, the earth that won't shift as it stands for its beliefs.
You would think that earth would not fit someone if air or water fits. Earths typically stick to rules and enforces them, water will bend around 9them whilst air will ignore them. However, air needs an amount of earth to stand up for that freedom and it is for this reason that I embody all three of the possibilities. Like water I acknowledge the rules and normally I follow them in a way, but like air I enjoy the freedom I get by making my own decisions but, like earth I will stand up for what I wish. The fact that I am not bothering to hide anymore is actually quite earth-like act.
As I finished the air meditation it was quite late so we decided to find somewhere for dinner, unlike lunch, we found somewhere quite quickly and ended up with a hotpot to share. I'm just pleased that she tried some of the unknown vegetables in the hotpot as well, I figured the meat wouldn't be a huge issue however, I did not want her to only eat rice and meat. At least whilst Mikayla didn't eat some of the things we were served she did enjoy all the meats which was lucky because I was worried about food when we decided on Japan of all places. Japanese food can be quite different to what you're expecting however it is always great to be able to say you have tried something.
As we walked back towards the hotel the conversation on tomorrow started and I explained that I will be going to a store that sells bows of good quality to but one for the competition. I also explained that I didn't like the way the owner of the dojo was eyeing my bow so I wouldn't practice until I purchased a new one and either way I wouldn't compete with a legendary weapon.
When we finally arrived back at the hotel after dinner Mikayla finally googled my name as I could tell by the loud 'What' that left her area whilst I was showering. So I was unsurprised at the deadpanned look I was faced with when I reentered the room. "When you said internationally ranked I assumed it was your age group and not first ranked. So imagine my absolute shock at searching your name only for you to be ranked first in both your age group and opens in the national rankings. Then we go to internationals and your ranked first for your age and then third in the world, speculated to be there only due to your age and their further experience and only by a slight margin!" she exclaimed her face expressing more and more as she spoke.
"I don't like to broadcast it much, whilst I enjoy archery... it is not competing I enjoy, competitions distract me from the very reason I enjoy archery. I enjoy archery because it reminds me of myths my grandmother told me, things like stories about Artemis and Apollo the twin god archers in ancient Greece mythology..." I trailed off.
"I suppose but it would have been nice to know you're the third best archer in the world..." she murmured.
"You didn't specify your rank I found out due to the wonders of google as well besides I at least told you I was ranked internationally!" I explain easily.
"I guess so..." she trailed off, to take her mind off of it I brought out the pocky I had bought earlier today as a snack as well as a couple other snacks I bought at the same time. I was quick to snatch back the box of pocky only allowing her to grab a single stick before just lying on my bed slowly nibbling down the stick and one by one the box was emptied. As I finished my pocky I almost swore once I saw the time on the clock, I literally snatched all the snacks and locked them in the safe provided by the hotel keying in the code before pushing a protesting Mikayla to get changed.
I changed as quickly as I possibly could and waited for Mikayla to finish getting changed before dragging her to her bed and pushing her to sit down. I quickly started to braid her hair, it easily parted as I started to explain, "I have to be up early to get to the store and you will need to get up to practice! So sorry about all the pushing and rush but it is really late..." I trailed off and sighed in slight relief as she simply nodded in acceptance. I finished the braid before braiding my own hair in an attempt to not have to do anything to it again in the morning.
