Sófie's idea was insane we had already sent anonymous tip to the police about how her parents were linked to multiple murders. Also that they would be out tonight, we did not mention what they would be doing because if they noticed the police it could end horribly. Instead Sófie decided we should actually go and take pictures, the thought horrified me but she did not let that stop her. I shivered as I left the house even though it wasn't particularly cold yet, 'I am about to become a witness to a murder' I thought still in shock at the thought.

When I arrived Sófie was already there, and although this whole thing was her idea it was now that I realised she had checked the odds first. For a few hours, nothing came and we just sat there bored, playing with the strings of our specially made bows. These were gifts from Mavis and she had explained that whilst we knew about her we need to be able to defend ourselves. They were made of sword steel and could block bullets if we spun them the became a shield in case we are caught up close to an enemy and need to fall back. Now they brought comfort that we could defend ourselves if we truly needed it, a quiver of arrows was over both shoulders and one also on the side. Normally people would be hampered by the weight but we had both grown used to it as we made sure to improve our physical abilities in preparation for tonight.

Suddenly a man had appeared in the ally, followed by a woman and another man instantly I recognised Mavis' parents. They seemed to be having a conversation, whilst we couldn't hear it we had prepared a recorder that was well hidden to record it for later analysis to see if it helps us as 'witnesses' in court. It seemed to turn dark when Mavis' parents block the exit making the man scramble to find a way out, a pistol was held in the man's hand and silver knives glittered from the place they were held in the woman's two hands. She threw a knife slice his neck at the same time the man shot a bullet hitting the man's head and blowing it in half.

Both Sófie and I flinched at the sight I held in vomit but Sófie wasn't able to and both of them turned and saw us. I cursed in French before twirling my bow causing it to shield us from sight, I grabbed the camera and pulled Sófie away to our escape route. Whilst there were stairs we had set up an easier way and soon enough we were back home. Luckily the recorder was set up to send the recording to my home computer through a vast amount of tricks and then to self-destruct. I sent the video to the police in an email written in a rushed horrified tone explaining we just happened upon it and I decided to film it as it seemed off.

I sighed in relief that it had gone at least close to plan, Mavis would arrive in less than a week just in time to testify easily enough and her parents were already in custody and holding. The trial would be starting in two days and Mavis will arrive on the third day and then testify after that it will go to the adoption case due to her inheritance possibilities my parents will need to prove they can care for her shelter and food wise. Her schooling will be continuously paid by any money her parents have which is more than enough for her to complete her education and still inherit more than enough.

My father had been preparing for a while now and I am completely stressing. I finally went to bed and luckily school distracted me enough that by the time I was actually testifying I was completely calm. Sófie also testified and it went smoothly all whilst this was happening Mavis' parents were glaring hatefully at us especially when both the recording and video played. The only problem we had was that the judge did not see why she should be removed from the family she would go to an aunt or something at this rate. I went to bed worried and woke up worried, luckily this faded the moment Mavis walked into the courtroom shocking many.

Her testimony was unlike anything I had seen; she drew up points that didn't need evidence. She said that whilst she had no idea about her parents and why they taught her certain things such as lock picking. She gave the reasons they gave and said she started young and was always taught not to question things. She drew attention to things they didn't notice and explained things that happened and confused her when younger. It painted a picture that meant her parents would not be getting out easy and even if they do they would not see her.

When they asked about a family she could stay with she said she had never met any other than her mother's mum. She also explained that she would not be happy staying with someone she had never met. Her aunt looked horrified, clearly believing that with her parents going to jail she could take advantage of my archery skills in competitions. In the end, the judge called it and she was taken from her family into the foster system it was then the adoption form was handed in. The next few weeks were a rush of checks and requirements, officials constantly in my house checking absolutely everything for the slights problems. Clearly, the whole case had become much more important once a reporter found out and now it was throughout the sports news and even some normal stations.

Then finally two weeks after her parents were sent to jail, Mavis could finally move in. The return to school had given her plenty of attention and now it skyrocketed again, she never did befriend any of the other students unless they were in archery and we vouched.
