"yoongi, come on! the bus is gonna leave soon!" jimin exclaimed and tried to pull yoongi along with him but yoongi resisted.
"you go first, there's something i need to do so i'll go home a bit later."
jimin looked at him suspiciously, "you sure?"
yoongi nodded and jimin eventually left.
yoongi waited and waited, but she didn't show up.
yoongi started to grow more and more frustrated by the second, and he was about to leave when he caught a glimpse of her sitting at a bench at the school field.
he quietly approached her and sighed when he realized she was crying again.
yoongi coughed to catch her attention, "try telling me there's nothing wrong with you again?"
she wiped her tears away and glared at him, "i'm really okay, yoongi."
yoongi pointed at the empty spot beside her, "do you mind?"
he sat anyway when she didn't answer him.
"did you take my words seriously yesterday?"
"why would i when it doesn't even make sense?" she rudely remarked.
yoongi chuckled, "funny how your personality changes so quickly. and drastically at the same time."
hyejin scoffed, "you too. you never cared at all but what's with you now? meddling with someone else's business? that's so unlike you, yoongi."
yoongi had a look of realization on his face. why was he suddenly so curious about her? he was the type to never care about others at all.
"i don't... know." he said with a hint of confusion in his tone.
hyejin turned to him, puzzled, "what?"
"i just feel like i need to help you, you know? it doesn't feel right for me to just ignore you knowing the state that you're in right now."
"but you never even cared."
yoongi sighed, "i know, that's what confuses me the most."
"i tried to talk to you everytime but all you ever did was ignore me. now what? you want to help me?" she chuckled bitterly, "it won't change anything, yoongi."
yoongi looked down and just stayed silent. a wave of regret finally hit him. he shouldn't have treated her wrongly.
"look, yoongi. i really don't feel like talking right now. i need to go." she stood up.
"you can always tell me if you need help. i'm sure there's at least something i can do to help you." he said, smiling at her sadly.
hyejin looked at him and sighed, "i'll... i'll try."
-
'if i open up, what will happen? nothing. the pain will always still be there. nothing will change.
-khj.'yoongi groaned as he read the note. he felt even more upset than before.
"jimin, i really don't know what i should do." he said. desperation was evident in his tone.
jimin turned to look at him, raising his eyebrows in confusion, "what do you mean?"
"i... i really wanna help her but i don't know how. i just can't seem to do anything and i feel so useless." his eyes wandered over the door, waiting for a certain someone to show up.
"is she having a hard time, hyung?" jimin asked, knowing for sure who yoongi was talking about.
yoongi nodded, "and she's not telling me anything even after i told her i would help."
jimin thought for a while, "maybe you should start by treating her better first. you never seemed to show her you care. i wouldn't even trust you if i were her."
yoongi slowly nodded his head in agreement, "yeah, i guess i should start with that."
jimin looked at his hyung and chuckled, "you know, i never thought i would see this side of you one day. especially not this soon."
yoongi frowned, "i don't understand."
jimin smiled meaningfully, "no, it's nothing."
yoongi was about to protest but he noticed a presence beside him so he turned to look and realized hyejin taking a seat beside him.
she kept herself busied by listening to seokjin's lecture and didn't seemed to care about yoongi who was staring at her for so long.
yoongi looked away and pursed his lips. he tried to think of a way to talk to her, but he couldn't think of any. that's when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"if you're still thinking of helping me, i suggest that you stop. i'm— i'm fine, okay? you don't have to care too much, yoongi. remember the time you never cared at all? just go back to being like that." she uttered monotonously.
jimin who had been eavesdropping on her stole a quick glance at yoongi. it was clear from yoongi's expression that he was feeling miserable about the whole situation.
yoongi could feel his heart breaking. he didn't know why exactly he felt like that. but one thing he knew for sure, is that he shouldn't be ignoring someone who's obviously in need of help.
"i know you might not trust me because of all the things i've done to you but if you ever feel the need to just tell someone all the hard things you're going through, you can tell me and i'll listen. trust me, you'll feel much better. and who knows, i might be of help."
he looked over at the carton of banana milk placed on his table. jimin had bought some of them to give to daesom and decided to let yoongi have one since he hadn't eaten anything since that morning.
yoongi then placed the carton of milk on her hands, "drink up. hopefully it'll brighten up your mood. you look like you haven't been eating for days."
jimin widened his eyes in disbelief and let out a scoff, "i can't believe this hyung. how could he give her my milk twice." he muttered under his breath, feeling betrayed.
but anyways, he still agreed with yoongi, "yeah, you should eat more. you look so dead."
she finally let out a laugh, "okay, guys. thanks." she smiled sincerely.
