Elsa
He came out of the shadows just as Adam was starting to ramble on about how much money his country made. The young man looked about as out of place in Arendelle as a snowman did among people. He wore a strange sort of blue tunic coated in frost, skinny brown slacks, no shoes, and he hugged a frosty hook-ended wooden staff as if it were his best friend. His disheveled snow-white hair peeked out from underneath his hood, and wore a smile that screamed troublemaker. Elsa narrowed her eyes and inquired further. He hadn't answered her question, but instead was staring at her disbelievingly. "Well, are you going to tell me or not? I'm the queen of this kingdom, and you're obviously an outsider." Frosty Boy looked confused.
"You can see me?" Now it was Elsa's turn to look confused.
"Of course I can see you," replied Elsa, "Is that not normal for you?" Then she realized that Adam was staring at her like she was crazy.
"Elsa, I think you're a little stressed. There's nobody there." Adam stood up and spoke gently to her, as if she were a mere child. Two annoying men were enough for her for one night; she just wanted Frosty here to answer her questions so that she could leave and pretend like this night had never happened. I'm not crazy, am I? She thought, but only momentarily.
"Well, of course it's not normal," Frosty growled bitterly, "considering that I'm Jack Frost and hardly anyone believes in me. But that means that you still believe in me, Elsa!" That's when the guy looked up at her and smiled expectantly, searching for...something. Elsa felt like she should know what it was, but she couldn't quite remember.
Instead of dwelling on it, she asked him, "Wait a moment. You're Jack Frost? As in, the Spirit of Winter? How do you know my name?" Disappointment clouded Frosty's face. He apparently hadn't found what he was looking for. But Elsa still wanted to know.
So Jack answered, "Yes, in fact, I am, and I know a whole lot more about you than your name, Elsa Queen of Arendelle. Let's just say it's a real long story."
This angered Elsa even further. Here was a strange man whom only she could see claiming that he knew all about her while the self-centered man intending to marry her sat there gawking at her.
"Adam, could you please fetch a physician? I think I am feeling light-headed." Elsa just wanted him out of the way while she sorted things out. As the Duke ran off looking perplexed, the queen turned back to Frosty. "What makes you think that that answers my question?! How. Do. You. Know. My. Name?" Elsa said through clenched teeth. This only seemed to make Frosty more cheerful.
"Just as feisty as ever, eh, E? All right, I'll fill you in, but it's a long story and it's getting late. I'll meet you here tomorrow morning. A Queen needs her beauty sleep." And just like that, he was gone. She could just make out a figure riding the wind over the village rooftops, a dark silhouette against the moon. Elsa wasn't sure what to do next. She needed to get away and think. So, pretty soon she was climbing up the now familiar slope of a lone snowy mountain. As she hauled herself up a small ridge, Elsa saw the beautiful glowing, crystal structure practically clinging to a cliff top nearby. The ice castle she had built during The Great Freezing seemed to be glowing in the moonlight, the towering turrets refracting the rays like mirrors. Despite the intimidating beauty of the architecture, Elsa always felt like she was at home when she came here to think. Although moonlight provided plenty of light, there were dark corners, shadows cast onto the frosty ground. It was so silent. As she passed through the shining halls, letting her fingers trail along the cold walls, she started to hum a familiar tune. Then she started whispering the lyrics to herself. Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore. Pretty soon she was singing the entire song, letting her voice echo along the halls. A glistening snowflake rose from her fingers, spraying ice particles everywhere as it appeared in her pale palm. Suddenly a man's voice interrupted her. "I remember the last time you did that in here." Sitting atop one of the many pillars of ice, one leg swinging in midair was Frosty Boy, his pale face hidden by shadows. This startled Elsa, abruptly stopping and spinning around. "You again? I thought we weren't meeting until tomorrow." Jack leaned forward so that she could see his face. His milky complexion and stunning pale blue eyes looked eerie in the moonlight.
"Yeah, well I didn't think that you would come here, and I don't really have anyplace to go," Jack defended.
"Well, this is private property, and I would much appreciate if you left," Elsa protested. Frosty Boy simply grinned. It seemed like nothing fazed this boy. And he couldn't seem to take anything seriously!
"You know, you're a whole lot more annoying than I remember," he joked, jumping down onto the floor effortlessly.
"All right, would you care to enlighten me on how you know me Frosty Boy? Forget about the meeting in the morning," Elsa wanted to know.
