Elsa
Elsa was out of breath by the time she reached Jack and was grasping his shoulders, looking him in the eye. “Jack, where are you going?” The others had already caught up, and were staring at them in surprise, but she only had eyes for Jack. He looked down at a small clear ball: a snow globe. There were tears in his eyes when he spoke to her.
“Elsa, I came back here because I let go of you once. But now I have to go back to my own time, where I have duties as a Guardian. Unless, of course…”
“What?” Elsa asked him.
“You could always…come with me. I can in no way guarantee you it will be easy, and I can’t tell you that you won’t be missed,” he looks over at her sister and friends, “but I don’t want to live in a world without you. You could become a Guardian, and you would never be alone again.” His eyes swam with hope, but she could tell that he didn’t expect her to say yes. And she wanted to say yes, so badly. But then she looked back at her little sister, hair blowing in the wind, and she didn’t think she could do it. She couldn’t lose her again.
“I’m sorry Jack,” Elsa said, “but I don’t think I would belong.”
“I know, I couldn’t ask you to do that,” Jack murmured, “I’m just not very good with goodbyes.”
“Neither am I,” she said simply. Jack took her face in his hands, looking at her as if memorizing her features. Then, without a word he threw the snow globe onto the ground, opening a sparkling portal. Without warning, Anna ran up to her sister and spoke urgently to her.
“Elsa, you have to go with him,” she whispered loudly.
“What! Anna, no. I already lost you once—,” Elsa protested.
“—and I was fine,” Anna finished for her. “I’ll be fine now. But you and I both know you belong with him. Do me this last favor as a sister and go. I’ll tell everyone in town that Queen Elsa was a hero today and I’ll make you proud.” A single tear raced down Anna’s nose as the words came spilling out. Elsa stared at her sibling in awe. She seemed to have grown up so much in such a short time. She wanted to say a thousand things to her sister, but they could all be summed up in a single phrase.
“Thank you. I will see you again, Anna of Arendelle.” Right before the portal closed around Jack, Elsa jumped through, feeling the warm brightness surrounding her for only a second. The last thing she glimpsed was her smiling sister wrapped up in Kristoff’s embrace, and Olaf sitting on top of Sven waving goodbye. Then she was hurled through the air, landing right on top of Jack’s chest. She wiped her tears away when she saw Jack’s surprised face.
Elsa?!” He cried, “what happened to not belonging here?”
She grinned. “I belong wherever you are. I’m not going anywhere.” And she kissed him.
