"We're here!" mom said as she pulled the rental car into the lot. I have her a warm smile. We got out of the car and went to get my things from the trunk.
We walked down the long hall until we got to my dorm. A-13. I smiled at the number and opened the door with my key. My roommate hasn't arrived yet, so I guess that means I get first pick on everything.
"I'll take that" I told my mom and relieved her from the heavy box she was carrying.
"Thanks" she huffed. "I'd better go, I don't want to miss my flight. Love you sweetie. Come visit me soon!"
I nodded as she walked out the door. It's going to be weird, having her so far away. I'm at Boston College, and she's in California. I can't run to her with my problems everyday now. Thinking of missing her already was making me sad, so I hung up my decorations instead.
Posters of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift plastered my side of the room, along with a bulletin board with pictures from home on it. I smiled at my wall and took out my new bedding to make my bed. As I finished fluffing the pillow, I heard the door click open. My eyes widened in shock.
"Hey Meg- where's Megan?" he said in his Australian accent. I gave him a confused look. "Your roommate?"
"Oh uhm, she's not here yet" I shifted uncomfortably.
"Hey I know you! Kaylee is it?" he smirked.
"No, actually. It's Kylie" I half smiled. "Luke, right?" I said. I knew his name, everyone did. I just wanted to be polite.
"Duh" he rolled his eyes at me and I looked at the floor. He walked over to my walls and admired my posters. "Seriously? Are you twelve?" he scowled at me.
"No. I love them. What's wrong with that?" I glared at him.
He laughed sarcastically. "Good luck" he laughed and left.
I sat on my bed and replayed the past five minutes in my head. God I hate him. I brought my box of clothes to hang them up in the closet. After about ten minutes, I heard the door click open again. My roommate! I turned to look at her and gasped at her appearance. Pink hair, many ear piercings, and a nose piercing to top it off.
"Hi! I'm megan!" her cheery tone surprised me.
"Kylie" I held my hand out for a handshake.
"Nuh uh sister" she giggled and pulled me in for a hug. I smiled and hugged her back. Despite her appearance, she's actually very friendly.
"So your friend Luke stopped by" I said after we pulled away.
"Really? Was he rude? He can be that way" Megan said.
"Um no actually" I lied.
"Good"she smiled.
"How to you know him anyway?"
"He's from California, so am I. We lived in different villages, but I saw him at parties all the time. We started talking at one party and became friends" she shrugged. I nodded.
"I'm from California too" I said.
"Really! Where?" Meg asked with a big smile.
"Same as Luke actually. We went to high school together."
"Lucky you" she said, sarcasm clear in her voice.
We spent the rest of the evening getting to know each other. We ordered pizza and actually finished it all. I helped her decorate. I prayed her decorating wouldn't be like her clothes, and my prayers were answered. She had pretty paintings hung up.
"These are really good" I said.
"Thanks, I did em" she shrugged.
"Wow" I responded. After we finished, I decided to help her put away her clothes. My eyes went wide when she opened her first suitcase.
As if she read my mind, she said "don't worry, I have different, more appropriate clothes for my classes" she giggled. I smiled as I picked up a short, black and re leather dress. Yikes. My 'party clothes' are jeans and any shirt, not that I'm gonna party though. I've got my studies to focus on.
After we finally finished, I went to bed.
