"Bell rings in 5 minutes! Get your stuff together and don't forget your goodie bags!," Mrs. Marshall told us.

Logan, Roman, and I were the first ones to get our book bags.

"Dudes! 5 minutes till summer vacation!," Roman sang.
"4 minutes 28 seconds," Logan said looking at the clock.
"What's in the goodie bags?" I asked grabbing one.

Roman watched as I opened the bag and looked at the contents inside. I saw Logan join by my side and he looked in his own. I pulled out 3 pencils, a colored pencil box, smarties, and-

"A yo-yo?" Logan asked holding a black yo-yo in his hand.

I pulled out my blue one and started playing with it. Logan started playing with his as well when Roman got his one bag and pulled out his own yo-yo. It was like ours, but smaller and red.

"How do you guys do this? It's like throwing a spiderweb," Roman said as he struggled to get the yo-yo back up.
"You're throwing it too hard. It's just an up-down motion," Logan told him.

Roman tried to take Logan's advice but instead ended up wrapping the string around his arm. Logan and I snickered silently as Roman unwrapped the string.

"I can't believe they sell these things."
"I can't believe the athlete can't operate a simple toy," Logan snickered.
"Meh meh meh meh meh mehhhh," Roman mocked in a whiny voice.
"Meh meh meh mehhhhh," Logan whined back.

They bickered at each other for a couple of seconds until Mrs. Marshall got tired of it.

"Stop it!," she yelled from her desk.
"Sorry," Roman said.
"Apologies," Logan said.
"Oooooohh, someones got in trouble!," I whispered.
"Someones?" Logan asked.
"Don't even start Logan," Roman snapped.
"3 minutes till the bell!"

Roman quickly packed his yo-yo back in his bag as Logan went to pack the bag in his book bag. He kept the yo-yo out and kept playing with it. I got tired of playing with mine so I packed mine up as well and stuffed it in my now empty lunchbox.

"Yo Pat, you excited for the trip to Indi next weekend?" Roman asked me.
"Yes! I can't wait till we continue the hunt for Bigfoot!," I chirped.
"Right, that... Because Bigfoot was definitely the guy who ate your BMT and cookies," Roman said with a cheese smile.
"Huh?"
"Nothing. Never mind."

We counted down the last 10 seconds before the bell, mainly Roman being the only one shouting with excitement. When the last second came and the bell rung, all three of us tried everything to push, kick, and bite our way out the door first. Biting was mainly Roman.

When we made our way through, I stood over by the door and waited by the wall. I usually just go with Logan and Roman to the bus but today I wanted to wait for Virgil. And I mean, we're all being picked up anyways sooooo... doesn't really matter.

"You coming Patton?" Logan shouted as he tried to maintain his position, while being pushed around by tiny 3rd and 2nd graders.
"I'm gonna wait for Virgil!," I yelled back.
"He's already down the hallway!"
"Wait what?!"

I looked to the direction where Logan was pointing. There in fact was a Virgil. A tiny Virgil who kept disappearing under many many kids piling through the hallway. I pushed my way through the kids as more flew out their classrooms. I finally reached the hallway where the boy was cradling himself on the ground near the library.

"Come on! The sooner we get in Roman and Logan's dad's car the better," I said to him with my hand out.

He nodded and took my hand. I pulled him up and held onto his arm tightly as I guided him through the swarm of eager children. I pushed him towards the front office where Roman and Logan were waiting.

"I hope my dad isn't stuck behind the buses. I won't be able to survive another kid who swings their notebooks at me," Roman said.
"Accidental or purposely?" Logan asked.
"Let's just say they were accidental, except this one girl who did it on purpose. I guess she was trying to get me back from asking her out the day before Valentines Day."
"What'd she say?" I asked.
"Nothing."

We all looked confused.

"Oh no, she said nothing. She actually punched my arm and threw her notebook in my face," he finished.
"That's just sad," Virgil said.
"At least I got close to a girl and not have them think I'm a weird loner with a goth hoodie," Roman snapped.
"You're right, you're not. And if you're referring to me then you're right. I prefer to be alone and some people do call me weird. Also, thanks for the hoodie compliment and girls are overrated," Virgil smirked.
"At least you got a girl to hit on you Roman," I giggled.
"Stop. Just, no. Can we go now? Before Patton thinks of anything more stupid to say?" Logan asked.

"That would be the best thing," Roman said as he eyed Virgil.

We all were dragged outside by the crowd and looked around for Henry's car. But I couldn't see any car that even looked close to his. I guessed the others couldn't find the car either because they looked as confused as I was. Although, Virgil wasn't much help because he's never seen Henry's car before.

"Maybe he's just late?" I said.
"I hope he didn't forget," Roman muttered.
"Should I call him?" Logan asked.
"That would help Yes," Roman answered.

We all waited as Logan called his dad. I heard the ringing go on for awhile until it stopped and Henry's voice was on.

"Hello?"
"Hey dad, are you coming to pick us up?"
"Yea, I'm almost there. Just give me about another 5 minutes ok?"
"Ok."
"Alright I'll see you there, bye."
"Bye."

Logan hung up the phone and put it in his pocket.

"So?? What did dad say?" Roman asked.
"Give him another 5 minutes," Logan said.
"Ugh, I have to stay at school longer? Ughhhhhh," Roman whined.

We all went back inside and sat on the couches by the front office.

"This is gonna suck," Roman muttered as he slouched on the couch.
"You think this sucks? I'm stuck with my annoying older brother, a play-safe nerd, and a crybaby," Virgil muttered.
"A crybaby?" Roman snapped.
"Oh I'm sorry, an athletic crybaby," Virgil sneered.
"Thank you! Wait... is that the same thing?" Roman whispered over to Logan.

*Sigh* This was going to be a long wait.
