I hesitated as I stood outside of Virgil's room. I didn't like seeing Virgil hurt. Then again, I don't like seeing anybody in the hospital. I've nearly passed out by passing 23 rooms on our way here. I was both eager and anxious as I opened his door leading into a mirror image of my hospital room. I had changed into some of Roman's old pajamas that he let me borrow. I didn't want to just see Virgil while I was in a nightgown.

Sure enough, Virgil looked like a child who was dying on the inside. Wait, not dying, I don't like that word. Uh, more like a child who likes to color on themselves with the red and gray marker. Something like that.

Roman and I walked over to opposite sides of the bed while Virgil's eyes started to flutter open.

He smiled weakly as he looked at me, "h-hey p-pat..."

He whispered as he talked. It was probably because of his lungs.

"You look like death," I confessed.
He only shrugged, "you s-seen me on w-worse days..."
Roman sighed, "Uh- do you want us to get you something from the cafeteria downstairs? We could get you anything because I'm pretty sure they have everything."
Virgil shook his head a little, he looked super tired.
"i'll b-be fine g-guys ok-kay? don't w-worry ab-bout me..."

He turned his head back to me, "where's mom?"

I looked at Roman, who looked at me. I couldn't tell Virgil that our mom was- is- not here. I couldn't just tell Virgil that and have his heart broken! Um- maybe-

"She's in a hospital room right now and she's fine don't you worry about her!," I lied and tried my best not to break.
Virgil only nodded. "we're g-gonna be f-ine right?"
I smiled and stroked Virgil's hair, "Yea. We'll be fine."
Virgil looked at me like he didn't believe me, "you p-promise?"
I nodded, "I pinky-swear."

I wrapped my pinky around his and hugged him gently. When I pulled away, I walked over to the other side of the bed where Roman was.

"We'll just go get something to eat and we could come back here for the rest of the night, alright?" I asked Roman.
"That's fine by me."
"Virgil-"

I went to ask if he really didn't want anything to eat, but he was already back asleep.

"We'll just bring him some desserts if they have any at this time," Roman said as he tugged me outside the room.
"Mhm."

I watched Roman as he watched many doctors and nurses rush in and out of rooms.

"Do you think Logan is on this floor?" He asked as he bit his thumbnail.
I watched as doors were getting closed and fewer people were in the hallways.
"If you mean 'if he's ok' then yes. Logan should wake up soon Ro. We'll get to see him. It's not like it's going to be forever."
He looked at me on that last part.
I realized what I said, "Ok, maybe not the best example. But you will get to see him soon. The doctors already told you that he's fine and nothing too serious."

Roman nodded, "I guess you're right."
I put my arm on his shoulder, "You know what we should do to take your mind off this?"
Roman smiled, "Does it have something to do with food and being weird?"
I grabbed his arm and guided him down the hallway while talking like a British man, "Right this way sir! We shall have the finest meals made to cheer you up you old chap!"
Roman laughed, "Do you know what you're talking about?"
I shook my head and continued with the accent, "Not at all my good sir! Cheerios! This bickering is toosh! They may have some biscuits, chips, and potato crisps in the kitchen! God save the queen- or something..."

Roman laughed as I dragged him down the stairs while continuing with the weird sentences.
~~~
"No Roman! Why did you have to drop such good food!!"
I dropped to the floor and was eye-level to where a Cheeto had been dropped from the table.
"I shall avenge this!"
I got up from the floor and grabbed my spoon off my food tray. I jabbed Roman in the stomach and he wheezed at the sudden impact.
"Ack! Patton!," he then giggled and picked up his spoon and jabbed me in the leg.
I threw my arms up in the air and ran towards the salad bar, screaming. Roman followed close behind and chased me around and around the bar. When we finally grew tired of running, we both dropped our spoons and went to sit back down at our table.
"Should we get Virgil his food and then head back up?" I asked as I poked my Jello with my fork.
Roman yawned, "Sure, I'm tired anyways. The sooner we get back to the room, the better. I want my beauty sleep."
I giggled, "You mean you need it."
Roman rolled his eyes and kicked my leg under the table, "Be quiet you!"
After awhile of talking, joking, and kicking each other's legs under the table, we were finally heading back up to the room with Virgil's tray, which was full of sweets.
When we walked back into the room, Virgil was still asleep and the room was pitch black. We had to walk quietly and making sure we weren't tripping over anything.
Roman went over by the window and instantly flopped on the small couch. I sat on the sofa chair that was beside Virgil and put the tray of sweets on the table next to me. I didn't have any blankets or pillows, so I just had to snuggle as much as I could into the chair.
I heard Roman yawn as he whispered, "Night Pat."
His yawn made me yawn, "Night Ro."
I heard shuffling and I could tell Roman was ready to pass out. I looked over at Virgil's sleeping face. I sighed of guilt and sorrow.
What would happen if I told him the truth? Would it be the best thing? What would happen when he finds out mom was dead? Will his anxiety get the best of him??
More thoughts ran through my head the more I stared at my sleeping brother. I felt a tear run down my cheek as I took in a shaky breath.
"Goodnight Virge."
HAI! I'm back and better than ever!! Haha, I'm just kidding. But yea, I'm back and here's the new update. 3 months. Wow, that seems like a long time since my last update. But hopefully it will never happen again. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this goofy/dramatic chapter.
