My day started out with a very loud knocking on my motel room door. Barely awake, I got out of bed to open it. A smiling Scully was patiently waiting to be let in. "Morning, bed head. Planning on touring Lexington in your boxers?" She giggled. I looked down. Sure enough, all I was wearing was a plain white tee shirt and a pair of boxers. Great. Scully's never gonna let me live this down. I smirked at her to let her know she won, and opened the dirt wider so she could come in. Scully walked in and sat on the couch closest to the door. She looked very pretty today, and I had no idea whether I should tell her that or not.

"Scully, I hope you know that your knocking woke me up. Are you happy?" I had an extremely hard time not laughing at myself, something that usually happened to me. "Mulder it's 9 in the morning, about time you woke up." Scully retorted. Dang, another point for her. I laughed, and walked over to my suitcase, where I pulled out my usual work clothes. I took off my shirt, and put on my pants. It was no secret to me that I was fairly good looking without a shirt on. I had worked pretty hard to be in the health that I am, so why not show it off a bit?

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Scully looking at me. Good sign. The six pack works every time.  After awhile, I got tired of my stomach being cold so I put on a nicer white tee shirt. I threw on my suit jacket and quickly tied my tie. I then bent down so I could put on my socks and shoes, and grabbed my toothbrush out of the bag. I put a generous amount of toothpaste on the brush and stuck it in my mouth. I also grabbed my comb and smoothed down my bed head. I spat out my toothpaste and Scully got up from the couch. We walked out of the room, and I locked the door behind us.

I opened the car door for Scully, and she smiled as she hopped in. When I was starting the car, I said "Alright, Scully. Where do you want to go? Kentucky Horse Park? Keenland? I need ideas, Scully!" I had remembered on the drive down here that Scully wanted to see horses and the horse park. I wasn't surprised when she replied "Actually Mulder, the horse park sounds nice. I went there once when I was a kid, and I really enjoyed it.". "Alright, Sculls. The horse park it is!". I smiled and began to drive out of the small motel parking lot.

The drive didn't take long at all. Scully was like a kid in a candy store. She was staring out of the windows looking at the beautiful scenery. She and I made small talk about her coming here before, and then about this very weird dream she had. The only logical reason for her having that dream I could think of was that she was in dire need of a vacation. The X Files is a very scary job, no wonder that dream had her freaked out. I rolled down the windows so the car wouldn't be as hot, and Scully loved that too. She was in heaven, and the trip had barely started.

When we arrived at the park, she practically leaned out of the car. I had to jog a bit to catch up to her. We first went into a museum for Saddlebred horses, which was cool until Scully made me get on a big, fake plastic horse. Let's just say that I fell down more times than she did. After that, we went to see statues of famous racehorses. Scully was radiating happiness. I pulled out my Polaroid camera when we were standing by the Secretariat statue and told Scully to smile. She did, and it was beautiful. Then, she made me give her the camera to take a picture of me. I smiled big for her satisfaction.

When we had seen every statue, we walked into another museum. While Scully wasn't looking, I secretly ordered a horseback tour of the park for her and I. She was completely ecstatic when I took her to the barn and told her. The horses we were assigned to almost resembled us in a very freaky way. The horse I was on was a dark brown color, and he was kind of tall. Good thing too, I didn't want to be on a little pony. It'd ruin my ego. Scully's horse was what she called a chestnut. It looked almost a little bit lighter than her hair, but not by much. We had to brush them and clean out their hoofs, then put the riding gear on them. Scully knew how to do this part, so I let her put the gear on my horse.

The trail ride was more fun than I thought it would be. The saddles were large and comfortable, and we only walked, which was totally fine by me. The fresh air in my lungs felt really refreshing. The white fences and green grass made me remember the time Scully and I went undercover as a married couple in that crazy neighborhood. That was actually fun, I wish we could do that more, the whole married thing. I liked that idea, Scully and I actually married. Maybe after this, I can talk to her about that. Or not, that'd probably be a bad idea. Scully seemed very relaxed on the horse and seemed to really enjoy it. I was smiling the whole time just watching her smile.
I think that's the whole point of love, doing stuff to make the one you love happy which in turn makes you happy. If that's what love truly is, then I guess I can't deny that I love Scully.

As the trail ride came to an end and we exited the park, Scully did something to surprise me too. She put her hand into my own and said "Wow, Mulder. I can't thank you enough for all of this. This day was amazing.". Yes! It worked! I'm not as stupid as I thought I was! "For you, Scully, anything." I smiled down at her and squeezed her hand to make sure she knew that I wasn't joking. We held hands all the way to the car, and it was the best feeling I could have. She was beaming the whole ride back to the motel, and I can't say that I wasn't either. The car was filled with happiness, just how I liked it.

The sun was beginning to set as we pulled into the motel parking lot. The colors in the sky were breathtaking, but not as much as Scully, with her eyes reflecting those colors. We walked to her room, hand in hand. She unlocked the door and walked in, inviting me to do the same. I followed her lead as I often did, and entered her room. Both of our rooms were the same size, but Scully's was much tidier than mine. Figures. I sat on her bed and turned on the TV. Scully sat down next to me and said "Mulder, do your feet hurt too?" I laughed and said "Thats what happens when you become a cowgirl in heels.". That got her laughing too. I couldn't identify what show was on, but it had Scully and I intrigued. We sat on her bed for a really long time just watching it.
Once again, we had our arms wrapped around each other, but this time it felt different. It felt like it was supposed to happen. It felt like we were supposed to happen.

"Hey, Scully. It's late, and you probably should go to bed, so I'm going to head out. Good night, I'll see you bright and early." I said to her as I started to get up from the bed. She caught my shoulder and said "Mulder, wait.". She came close to me and embraced me in a hug. "Thanks again for everything, Mulder. It was really sweet of you." I rested my chin on her head and said "Scully you don't have to..." She pulled my face down close to hers and kissed me before I could say another word.
