Chapter one

**Emily's POV**

"Emily!, Emily wake up!" I felt my mum jolt me awake, "today's the day" my mum looked at me and smiled.

I looked over the my alarm clock, it was only 8:00am.

"Mum it's the first day of summer! Why would you wake me up with early" I groaned as I shut my eyes again.

"Get up honey we need to start getting ready" my mum stated as she pulled my covers off me.

Today was the day I was dreading. I can't believe my mum was forcing my whole family to go! I know her and i know she didn't even want to go!

It took all of my willpower to get out of bed. I strolled to the bathroom which was just down the hall from my room.

When I looked in the mirror I examined my face. I was always so critical of my features. I'm not ugly but I've never been necessarily eye catching... I struggled to tie up my brown hair, it's so long and thick, not to mention my curls. After what felt like an eternity, all strands of hair were bundled up on the top of my head, so i sighed and dragged myself into the shower.

I turned the water on, initially shocked by how cold it felt against my bare skin it took my a minute to turn the water onto hot. Thankfully the water instantly turned scolding, that was just the way I liked it. Despite my desolate mood i proceeded to wash my body then shaved my legs.

My showers typically lasted 5-10 minutes. I stepped out of the shower regretfully looked at my body in the mirror again. I hated everything about myself. I've never been as skinny as all the other girls, since i can remember i've always concluded I'm not the kind of body shape anyone wants to pay attention to.

I took a deep breath and exhaled one last time before I exited the bathroom to get ready for the day ahead of me. I was not looking froward to this day.
