Chapter 33

I let James go inside so we could talk. We both headed to the kitchen to sit at the table. I was nervous to talk to him. I didn't know what to say to him. I put the flowers down on the table. As I let go of the flowers, James grabbed my hand. I avoid looking at his face, I felt too ashamed and embarrassed.

"Melanie, Look at me..." He said. The first time I didn't look, "I want to see your eyes again....please." He said. I struggled to look at him. He used his other hand to tilt my head up to him and then I finally looked at him. His blue eyes, oh I how I missed him. The warmth of his hands.

"I apologize." James said in a whisper voice. "I apologize for everything. My behavior, my careless act, not respecting you, and.......not protecting you." He started to sound guilty. "Not protecting me?" I asked, not knowing what he mean. "When....when Lars...." He try to say when Lars kissed me. "Oh..." I said. "I should have not made it out as if it was your fault because it wasn't your fault." He said. "And I promise you that nothing happened with that waitress." He said. "I believe you James....." I said. "But. Something did happened.....you went to jail for punching her....good thing she didn't press charges.....but what happen?" James asked. I hesitated for a few seconds and then I said, "She said some upsetting thing about you...and I snap..." "You punched her...." James said, "She had it coming." I said

I stood up from the chair while upset. I was gonna fold my arms but then James got up from the chair as well and pulled my arm towards him. "Melanie, look....I love you..." He said. "What?....." I was shocked, because the way he said it with serious and loving voice.

"I love you...." He said again. I looked into his eyes. His very serious eyes. Then he came closer to my face. His hands went around my neck gently. His kiss was coming to my lips and so I closed my eyes and felt his lips on mine.
